    Default Olympics question

Some friends and I were having an argument tonight about the olympics.

Ex: Someone is born in China, but moves to the U.S. and becomes a citizen, can they then represent the U.S. in the olympics?

I said they can, my friends disagreed. So, I just read the olympic charter and it seems to support my position. Anyone got any further insight on this?

Why wouldn't you be able to? If you're an American Citizen...don't see why there would be a problem.

yeah, but i think you have to be a citizen. I remmeber in the 2000 or 2004 games there was a Russian born swimmer who was on the American team.

you dont even have to be a citizen. if an athlete doesnt qualify for their home countrie's team, then sometimes they will go on another countries team.. happens all the time.
