What's your definition of "don't like" when you hear someone say it or when you say it yourself? Do you automatically think that they hate it? Or when you say it, you mean that you hate it?
to me, don't like = neutral, not a prefered choice/option.
hate = negative extreme, meaning I detest it.
For example:
"I don't like golf"
When I say it, i mean that golf isn't my prefer thing and I don't do it. However, it doesn't mean that I hate it.
It seems to me that people nowaday oftem misuse those words as an expression of "detest and hatred".
