Please tell me why when I came outside today, 3 of my cars got a ticket for parking the wrong way! As I walked down the street there was 3 cars that where parked the wrong way in the front(I live in a townhome in the back end of the subdivison) that didn't get a ticket... My SI, GSR, and Accord got a ticket for parking the wrong way... theres a Lexus, truck, and SUV in the front that didn't get one! The ticket was written at 7:00 am!

actually i think you can get in trouble too if someone hits your car.... i believe you could be charged for any wrecks b/c you are facing the wrong direction.

I fail to see how what direction the car is facing can play a part in the wreck. The car would be taking up the same space even if it was facing the other direction.actually i think you can get in trouble too if someone hits your car.... i believe you could be charged for any wrecks b/c you are facing the wrong direction.

Granted, and I acknowledge that illegal is illegal. It just doesn't make much sense to me how they can attribute the cars' faced direction with an accident in such a case.
You are absolutely right, but I had a friend who got ticketed for parking on the wrong side of the street when some douchebag lost control of his motorcycle and hit his parked car head on. last time i parked in the street somebody hit my car. fukin lady hit a park car. Oh well she wrote me a check so Im not bitchin about it

The reason why it is a ticket-able offense is because to park your car facing the wrong direction, you would have had to drive the wrong way down the street to get to that spot. Basically it gives the officer reasonable doubt that you drove the wrong way down either a lane or, in the case of a one-way street, the street itself.

I think you're arguing the more technical aspects of the issue than I am.
If the car is parked in a spot, taking up the same space and facing any direction, I can't really see it as being able to be faulted with the accident of some idiot that hits said parked car.
You may just have to read the technicality of it to see where the answer lies within your question. If you're parked on the street facing the wrong way, you had to have driven the wrong way down that street or lane. You made an illegal maneuver thus resulting in a wreck. If you hadn't made the maneuver in the first place and just parked in the direction you drive, then you would have been driving legally and would have been in the right. It's all technicalities. Basicly for the same reason that if you are driving drunk and someone hits you, you are still at fault.
I know its illegal, but im with Ran. That's what I said to myself this morning. What does it matter which way I was parked. And yes I do have a driveway, but the drive way is small. I already have two cars on the driveway, and thats all it will fit.
well i dunno how much a parking ticket is (prolly not much) but go fight it in court........
u should have taken a pic of your street to prove that in court although who knows if your neighbors came out and pulled their tickets off before u went outside
your only argument u can use is that u had no more space in your driveway but good luck fighting the rest of the reasons!!!.........1
And another thing that got to me was that there were 3 other cars that were parked the wrong way, and they didn't get a ticket... The cop wrote the ticket at 7 I came outside at about 7:30! so I know all three cars didn't just get there.
I believe Lexus is an import also... Just a guess though... ha
Did you know about the law? If so, then you shouldn't have done it in the first place. But as it is stated, ignorance is no excuse for the law... Just one of those things you have to suck up and remember, as bad as it does suck... As for the other cars that didn't get a ticket, who knows... Can't always just point fingers and say they should have received the same consequences as you, you just have to take care of your own matters...

Yea, I agree, but it just sucks that cops would treat modded imports like that.
I think your best bet would be just to pay the ticket... If you try fighting it in court, they will more than likely charge you more money for court time or whatever...

Old thread but, is this on all streets? Everyone in my neighborhood parks however is easiest for them to get out. I personally park facing the exit of the neighborhood, but my neighborhood is very small. I guess I may start parking the other direction to avoid tickets :X

dude you fail at reading, it wasnt cause he was parked on the road, it was cause he was parked the wrong way on the road. oh and firetrucks dont go in the driveway unless its a long ass driveway.
I know that.the fact is, he still parked at the road and that's the point I'm trying to bring out.Think twice before u parked on the road.

Parking on the road had absolutely nothing to do with the ticket.. well it did but it was because he parked facing the wrong way.
