depends on how big the pizza is. I went to an Italian restaurant once and the pizza was so thick that the only way to eat it comfortably was to cut it with a knife.

for normal pizza from like pizza hut its gay, but ive had pizza that was really hot and would fall apart if you picked it up so a fork is necessary

I fold it in half. I've seen people layer them like a calzone, too. Pizza is a hand food. Hence the crust
The ONLY PIZZA you should eat with a fork and knife is either deep dish Chicago style pizza or a true gourmet pizza.
