U.S. stock futures rose, indicating the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index may extend its biggest quarterly rally since 1998, after better-than-estimated results from Apollo Group Inc. and H&R Block Inc. spurred speculation that earnings are strengthening.
Apollo, the owner of the University of Phoenix, gained 5.8 percent as its per-share profit topped the average analyst projection by 12 percent. H&R Block, the biggest U.S. tax preparer, rallied 5.9 percent on a 2010 earnings forecast that exceeded most analysts’ estimates. Chevron Corp. and Exxon Mobil Corp. increased amid oil’s advance past $73 a barrel.
Futures on the S&P 500 expiring in September added 0.3 percent to 924 at 8:45 a.m. in New York. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 0.2 percent to 8,474 and Nasdaq-100 Index futures gained 0.1 percent to 1,483.25. Stocks in Europe fluctuated, while Asian shares rallied.
“We are looking forward to a good third quarter and ending the year with gains,” said Andrew Popper, chief investment officer at SG Hambros in London. “I don’t think we will see the same kind of soaring stock prices that we saw in the second quarter. We have come from a situation where the market was discounting a very deep depression to a situation where market participants are now seeing the economy going through a recession in the immediate future but then a recovery.”

and it also needs an auto to manual conversion....but like i said, the corolla gets all the money. i bought the accord for a dd, the tranny went out, and it was cheaper to swap in an auto h22 than to buy an h22 with manual tranny and do the conversion......it will happen eventually
