You think this hole for a head stud will hold? Its threaded nicely, i had to hammer my threading tool in the hole then thread so the threads are there. I screwed the stud in but im curious as to if it will stay under normal driving conditons.

it doesnt look like it cause the thread is near the edge of the hole, so it'll look like it'll crack. i hope it doesnt. but that has happened to me before.
thats what i was thinkin, but i drilled the hole a little deeper so the threads actually go a little further down from that crack. Rockers have a vertical movement so im curious as to wat will happen.
well try it out and then if it doesnt hold make another hole
another hole? Shit where could i possibly make another hole, its a head for God's sake!!!LOLOriginally Posted by Daniel

Have the hole welded fully. Then Retap the hole at a machine shop. That is the best way to be sure no more of the mount cracks off leaving metal chuncks in your motor.

i would say around 100-200 if that bucks to weld then tap it again
not too bad, i didnt even know they could do that with cast iron.
its very hard to get the weld to stick perminently. i've had experiences trying to get it to work and couldn't. good luck though.
well it looks like they are saying to weld the crack and weld the hole up to and redrill it, so it should workout pretty good..............i hope. Anyone know of any good affordable machine shops?Originally Posted by b18hb
im pretty sure that wont hold, and the casting looks shot, i would just get a new head or a reman head
