Sucks for honda fans.
Wow, repost from 2005-ish. You know, the old days...
Eh, I take that back. I think they were just impounding them before...
so they didnt actually catch him street racing though. just he had modified his car to what appeared to be used for street racing. i think that law is really ****ed up.
exactly why i will never live in cali

Kid you're guilty of street racing b/c you tinkered with your car. I think modifying cars keeps a lot of kids out of trouble, just look at the decline of street gangs as a result of kids getting hobbies

"Once Sung was stopped, they saw other signs of illegal street racing, including a fiberglass hood and a sway bar on the back of the car."
*sarcasam*... yep, sway bars are side effects of illegal racing... they just pop up out of nowhere on your car after a race."
well, if i had a sway bar or the back of my car.... i'd be worried... so, they just pop up anywhere?Originally Posted by PsychoSquirl
hmm, so they can crush modified hondas because they assume we're street racing, but what about the souped up foxbodies and camaros and old school vettes and mustangs?

Once Sung was stopped, they saw other signs of illegal street racing, including a fiberglass hood and a sway bar on the back of the car, said Officer Brian Nystedt. A peek under the hood revealed the vehicle identification number had been chipped off the transmission, which is a sure sign of a stolen part, Nystedt added.
since when does that mean you street race?
Lol @ neg camber comment. They crushed it because he had stolen parts, period. I believe the Author just added in the street racing part to spice up the article.
Corvettes have fiberglass hoods and swaybars STOCK that why they are unbeatbale on the streets.
I can tell most people didnt "read" the article before they posted!!!
+1 for the justice system!!!
-1 for stolen parts!!!
Cali FTL
So they managed to catch one guy with stolen parts. Good job. Now, how many cars with legally purchased parts have they crushed under their asanine laws?

Even if he RECEIVED stolen parts, that shouldnt be grounds for him having his car CRUSHED. lotta good that did to people that had their stuff stolen![]()

You don't accidently buy something like an engine or tranny that was stolen in a place where theft of such parts like that is highly prevelant. (sp?) Obviously, he could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he bought the parts from a legit source. Possesion is 9/10's of the law. He got pulled over for a modified exhaust, which over there happens all the time, and it snowballed from there.Even if he RECEIVED stolen parts, that shouldnt be grounds for him having his car CRUSHED. lotta good that did to people that had their stuff stolen
As for the cops saying he's a street racer, lets be honest now, he did not put all those parts on the car to make the car slower. If thousands of other ppl run around causing accidents and racing with parts and cars much like that kid, why is unfair for them to assume he's one of them? I did not mod my srt when I had it cause I wanted better gas milege, I did it so I could be faster. I think the kid got off easy, a crushed car hurts for a little while, felonys ruin lives.
So stereotyping is okay now? Just because I have an exhaust and spoiler on my Yaris I'm a street racer? Or because I had an intake on my MSM I was a street racer? It's 100% presumption and that's bullsh*t no matter how you cut it. I'm Asian, so I guess I play Starcraft all day and work on a shrimp boat too.Originally Posted by Turbo04

Like it or not man, I'm sure you've seen some modded civic (or other car)out there on the road and thought something about them racing. Don't want to be labeled a street racer, don't drive a car with mods that ppl associate with it. Simple as that. Sterotyping happens everyday, to damn near everyone. Part of life. You do it, I do it, everyone has done it at one point in time. Maybe not about street racing, but other things. no sense in crying about how unfair it is. ( not saying your crying about it, just talking in general) **** man, I'm mexican and yet how many stereotypes are running the boards about mexicans?![]()

Ya but you can't charge someone on simple suspicion alone, just because he has parts to make his car perform better doesn't mean he's guilty of committing a crime. That's like charging someone with murder because they walked into a room with a knife, the mother ****** could have just been cooking.Originally Posted by Turbo04
And ya, "chipped off" sounds like some sketch ****. Chances are some poor guy worked his ass off for that swap, only to have a couple of spineless ****s jack his car, strip it, and sell the parts for cheap.
