Default Credit Unions and Banks in general

Ok so I know this is in the wrong section but I need a few quick responses.

I am looking into getting a used car from a private seller. The car is a 2003 and is valued by the banks at $20,000. I need to borrow $15,000 to get the car but Wachovia only will do a 3 year loan because the car is a 2003. I am awaiting what Bank of America will say and I think I will be looking into Regions also but my main question is

Are there any good Credit Unions that you do not have to be a part of the government or work for a certain company to join? Just a creit union that anyone can join?

I know that most credit unions give WAY better interest rated on used vehicles and also generally give longer paybak times

I am llooking to finance for ATLEAST 4 years and if possible 5 just to get my payments down until I sell teh SUZUKI.

move this into the correct section later tonight, but please let a few people help me out before moving it. I want to get this car by the end of the week. thats why i need some advice quick

    THANKS

Georgia's Own (used to be Georgia Telco). They will do 5 years and have great rates.

I just bought a car yesterday, and this is what I can tell you. Your APR will be MUCH higher because it is a used car. Credit unions requires you to have an account with them, first. Its much harder to get an account with them than your local bank. Credit unions interests rates are much better, though.

Not really. I opened my credit union account here in GA and the one I had in SC exactly like and just as quickly as my other bank accounts. When I bought my most recent car, I got my loan through GA Telco and I just gave them $5 to start the savings account (as Kellie Marie said) and that was it.

Their interest rates are on their website. Of course, that is the lowest rate for people with the best credit, but as long as yours is pretty good, it won't be far off of that.

Georgia's Own Credit Union, like JennB said..

I refinanced my car a few weeks ago... they brought my interest rate down almost 5%!! The only thing is you have to have (at least a savings account) an account with them. They only made me deposit $5 to join. I was in and out in ten minutes for my refi. Soon we will transfer all of our credit cards and such to them! Credit Unions are the way to go

i am ready for a 8-11% interest rate. I will more than likely have the car paid for in 2 years, I just want to finance it for 5 JUST INCASE. I dont want to be pressured into a $600-$800 a month payment when I can only afford $300 one month. Get what I am saying.
