DirectX issues

I just bought Team Fortress 2 and installed it. Every time I start the game it says loading, then the game goes back to windows and an error message pops up that says, this game needs at least directX 8 to run.

I have downloaded directX 8 and 10 and still the same problem

any suggestions?

Uninstall all traces of DX -8-10.


Reinstall the Direct X package that came with your software.

if that doesnt work you can try uninstalling DX and the game then then reinstall everything....

start > run > type in dxdiag, what shows up?

It says I have directX 9.0c

I dont understand why the game isnt working
