you only have to connect two of them.. Red and black < phone jack side> comming out of the wall you have to test but only need 2.. only two have power you can test the power by touching it to your tounge <phone is dc current> its like a 9 volt

If you have only one phone line in your home, the red and green wires are all you need to worry about. They make the primary line work.

You don't have any orange/white wires? Later, QD.

Does the blue wire have smaller white stripes on it? Later, QD.

Match the blue w/ white stripe wire to the red wire and the white w/blue stripe wire to the green wire. That should provide you with a workable dial tone. Later, QD.

No problem. If you're not getting any "spark," then you've got fried wiring anyways. That would explain why it doesn't work.

The phone jack itself has only 4 pins in it? Later, QD.

it has four screws on the back if thats what you mean , but from where my moms computer is wired from the cable modem to the phone jack does the same thing , gives to "spark" but our internet works.

Those are your secondary line. I didnt know if they were wired in or not (obviously not since they are tucked back). Its possible that you broke a wire when the phone jack got snatched out. You could try going out to the source and switching over to the orange group. If you do this take the blue group out, put the white w/orange stripes on the green and the orange w/white stripes on the red. Then do the same at the phone jack.

Ahhh. The Comcast guy should have wired the phone service into the whole house. If yours is the only one that worked (before the accident), then it may have been installed incorrectly. You may need to have comcast come back out and take a look at the whole system. Meanwhile you can plug the phone itself into the back of the modem and have a working phone.

Havent read the replies but with the phone jack the red and green will give you dial tone, but make sure you look at the jack and look to see if any of the copper prongs inside the jack are messed up.. if so you wont get a dial tone even if it is wired correctly.

You said there is green and green/white wire also blue and blue/white wire. First off.. comcast technicians know jack **** about phone service so theres no telling how they wired it. But if the green and green/white (usually considered for the 3rd line but also used if the blue and orange pairs go bad) is stripped then try"

    green to red
green/white to green on phone jack.

I'll be back to check later

Comcast techs know jack sh!t about anything. I had them one time blame my internet not working due to a virus on my pc.....he said that because he seen a virus scan happening while he was trying to fix the internet connection problem. It ended up being the lines outside, which I was only one of several people in the neighborhood to have the problem.
