interesting article though. My late uncle owned a 1989 starion that he bought brand new in 1989. That car was his child. I think about him whenever I see them.

By the time the Starion bowed out in 1989, it had been in production for a remarkable 7yrs. At the time, it seemed quite old fashioned as JDM manufacturers readied themselves for the speedfest that was the following decade, a decade that brought us the R32 GTR Skyline, Supra twin turbo, RX7 twin turbo, and of course Mitsubishi’s own 3000GTO supercar and the Lancer Evolution.
