How should I approach them about it? Right now, I'm telling them that deposit slip was wrong, the money immediately posted to my account, and that it was an out of state personal check.

yeah, just tell them all that
Once again, they are being uncooperative. I spoke with another represenative today at the customer service line, and said the most they can do is $30 credit to my account, therefore they needed to direct it to a local branch.
I called the branch and spoke with someone for about 15 minutes and again they have to call me back.
Check systems suck....
I would say take your money elsewhere and don;t pay the fee's.... leave them with a debit for those fees.
:)
yeah, you can just leave them with the fee's
UPDATE:
They went ahead and did $90, but I am not satisfied. Why should I settle for something I don't think I did wrong!
UPDATE AGAIN:
I spoke with another regional manager. She told me it was not the bank's fault or error but as a courtesy, she went ahead and did the $90.
Therefore, I am out $60 in stupid ass fees. They also did $10 due to "quality control" because the bank made an error on the deposit slip. Basically, they charged me $150, returned $100, but took $50 of mine because the deposit receipt was wrong on their part.
WTF.
looks like you will have to take the initiative to write a letter to Corporate!
I haven't read through everything that everyone has said but I have Washington Mutual and I must say that they are awesome in ever aspect...I have recently had some trouble with my bank account as well bc of my credit card authorizing a payment twice that i never said that they could...and the bank is letting me open up a whole new bank account until the entire mess is sorted out, kinda sucks bc i called my credit card company to tell them that i had an overdraft on my account bc they decided to collect a payment that i had not authorized and they then told me that they had no record that i had cancelled my payment then i started to yell at them not very nicely i might add and then the NEXT DAY they authorized the payment...AGAIN so i had 60 bucks in overdraft non-sufficient funds charges on my account, but WAMU is basically doing everything in their power besides give me all the money in the world...
Cliffs Notes for you that don't like to read long BS
my credit card company sucks elephant balls and i ran into bank charges that i can't pay and Washington Mutual if the bomb diggity yo...

oh ok...yeah washington mutual is awesome...love them and their online banking is hella fast too...i can go to walmart and use my check card and by the time that i get home it is online...which is like in 2 minutes...pretty damn fast...
They keep telling me it is not a bank error! They said it is my fault and I should have waited 7-10 days if I was unsure if the check was going to clear.
Tell them to eat a dick.
