    Default Damn AT&T

    I moved into a new apartment and it was cheaper for me to get a DSL line and local phone service than it was to get cable from Charter. Since I have my desk setup in my apartment in a place with no phone jack I had to run a 60ft cord through the baseboards along the way to get it to my desk.

    So fast forward to today my DSL install date. AT&T guy comes on-site and he asks if I had everything ready for him. I picked up the telephone cord that I ran across the room and he goes, "Oh, we don't use telephone cords anymore... we don't even use a DSL modem anymore." ....

    FUCK! So I bought the telephone cable and spent my good time routing the cord throughout my apartment for this! So now apparently they use regular CAT5 cable from your central phone setup and you just plug it up directly to your PC or router.

    Although I give the guy a +1 for bringing me a bunch of CAT5 cable that would have surely cost me a pretty penny!

    The hell? I'm a DSL tech and I've never even heard of DSL without a modem.. I'll have to look into that

    I just moved out of my Dad's house and he still had DSL.

    Still used the phone line and all.

    nah theres the other ones now that was basically business only, they install a little unit outside your house and there are cat5 jacks in your house pretty gangster IMO...
