well. i'm still getting a bike.

but DAYUM!!! LOL! dude was prolly thinking............"ahh, now this is that bullshit..." just before hitting the truck. now i'm sure had his head not got lodged in the door, he may have and i say may, loosely, may have survived.......no, i take that back.....the impact from his torso hitting the rails of the truck prolly shattered his heart.

people had cheap insurance because they don't get full coverage. My insurance agent said he quoted one guy on a sport bike and it was 7500 a year.

I always overlook before lane changes/turnoffs ETC. because I know that if I was riding I would want the same done for me. Even with all the dangers I still am getting one. I have respect for the bike though as someone else said it is a coffin on wheels. It is like playing with death kinda, they are very powerful machines and I think anyone who wants the responsibility to ride one is gambling with life. With all the people that dont pay attention to bikes it is a BIG gamble. I can tell you one thing when I do get one I'm not riding with out full leathers. I would rather look like a complete idiot riding dressed as a professional racer then just a leather jacket and helmet. If I do go down I would rather be covered head to toe than take a chance at risking my life even more. Just 2 cents.
You're on the right track, but you still have no control of certain situations. The biggest killer is dumbasses in cars pulling out in front of you from a side street. Even if your going 45 MPH (or whatever the speed limit), if they pull out in front of you when your closer than 30ft there is not much you can do. You will still T-Bone them more than likely before you have time to react. Gear is great, especially if your sliding, but a helmet only provides so much impact protection. You can be the safest rider ever, but your still relying on everyone else out there.

I pay $228 a yr for full coverage (on a 03 R6). That also covers any accessories (pipe, helmet, etc) that get damaged.

Ive been down at 100+. Didnt even break anything. Gear does a lot more than most people realize.

    LOL

I dont need a law to tell me to wear my gear. Helmet laws are for idiots.

Bikes are like anything else, they have thier idiots. This was an unfortunate loss. The kid was wearing gear, not just a helmet, which shows he was smarter than most riders.
