Aaaactually color theory was a class I had to take for my Industrial Design degree that I am currently working on, and after that I am getting my master's in auto design... So yeah... I can do a lot with color theory, thanks. And it's an optical illusion.. stationary picture, yes. Illusion of movement? check.

I have a meeting to go to, because apparently when an art student does well in a class like oh, say, color theory, companies like Kicker Car Audio want to send said art student to Europe for 12 weeks to help with their European product launch and build their touring show car.
And Magius - It's not a gif file.. it's a jpeg. Simultaneous contrast creates a "vibrating edge" between two blocks of color, and it created when two highly saturated, opposing colors bump up against each other. Like when bright red and bright green are next to each other they look like they're shaking. By desaturating one hue slightly, the vibration moves toward the less saturated one... like the more saturated one is trying to "take over" the less saturated one. So consequently, if the low saturation is on the right, the image will appear to move to the right. It's pretty fun to play with and make illusions.
