    Default anyone ever been misdiagnosed?

just wondering if anyone has ever been misdiagnosed by a doctor for something and what happened.

i was told i had a broken wrist by an ER doctor out in tahoe, went and saw an orthopedic dr here on friday and was told it was just sprained, that the "fracture" pointed out to me was just a line in my bone or something that's completely natural.

My biggest fear. I think it is possible, but most people like to trust the Dr.s and it is a good thing. But when in doubt get a second or third opinion.

Also, is your car pink wurm?

Eastside hospital off 124 and ronald reagan. i broke my wrist and I went there to have it looked at and they said it wasnt broken. I went to the orthopedic dude- cool ass dude btw- and he said it was broken on the outside of both bones.

and that wasnt the first bad experience w/ eastside

so if you are in a life threatening situation have someone drive you to emory or something NOT eastside.

if you die then at least it wasnt because the dumb fucks at eastside didnt kill you

Mee!! I was trying to Ice Pick a Handrail out of a quarter pipe, and landed ass first on the rail lol I went to the hospital later that night, and after 4 hours, and 6 X rays the Dr. told me it was bruised. I went home, and later on was talking with my grandmother (who used to be an RN) and was describing how i felt, and she told me to go to another Doctor. So I went, and got more Xrays, in less than 3 hours, to find out it was infact a broken tailbone. This Dr. said that the way it was broke, had I gone out and rode more, and crashed and landed on it, there was some way it could've easily killed me? Not sure, but that was enough for me to park the bicycle lol

ER doctors suck. They are always in a rush so it is fairly common for them to miss or missdiagnose something.

A few months ago when I wrecked my bike I knew I had broke my collarbone because I could feel the 2 bones moving against each other. The ER doc told me that I had an AC seperation, and no broken bone. Despite me telling him and showing him the break. When I went to the specialist I found out the bone was broke at a sharp angle and comepletely seperated by that time.

Last year I broke my hand after going down at the track. Same thing basically, they tried to tell me it wasn't broke only bruised. Turned out it was broke so bad (close to a joint in the hand) that the doc had to put 4 pins in to help it mend.

But in your case, it deffinately would hurt to get a second opinion to be sure it isn't broke.

In the ER after my wreck a year ago, they told me I just had a sprained wrist. But after a week of it not getting better I went to an orthopedic surgeon and found out it was fractured.

back in highschool, broke my wrist during a football game. Went to the ER and they said "no just some tendon damage..." went to another docotor, broke the wrist and almost severed (sp) all the tendons going to my hand. ER was half right i guess

my best friend died when we were in middle school because of a misdiagnosis...
she was really sick with bad flu-lke symptoms so her parents took her to the doc, he said it was just a virus and there was nothing they could do about it...
a few days later she wasnt getting any better so they went BACK to the doc, and he basically told them the same thing, even though her fever was 104+

she died that night in the life flight to the hospital...both her lungs collapsed, had fluid in them, and she had pneumonia. so her family sued the shit out of that doctor and i think they ended up getting a bunch of money.

but yeah, that was THE saddest funeral i have ever been to.

That same thing happened to me i but at a hospital in miami. I found out it was broken like a month later when i went to the Orthopedic DR. The fuked up thing about the situation is i had to have my arm rebroken and have the bone set. Hurt more when they rebroke it then when i fell on it playin football. hurts just typin about it.

Mines not really life threatening.. but for years I would get bad pains in my side and would go to the ER thinking it was appendicitis.. and they always sent me home with a diagnosis of indigestion or gas even, lol.. I just always listened to them.. and then this past year it happened again but this time it was soo bad I couldnt walk for days almost and even pain killers wasnt helping the pain so I finally went to my physician and had every possible test ever ran and turned out it was my gallbladder and they had to remove it.. Like I said nothing life threatening.. but this was going on since I was about 17 at least and am now 24 lol

I had an ear infection a couple yrs back, doc said it looked fine just had some wax. So he proceeded to clean it out with a water pic. 1 week later it was still hurting, so I went back and another doc from the same office looked at it and said it was the worst ear infection he ever saw, and that I must of had it for 3 weeks atleast.
