Default The Last Limited Sti Is Still For Sale!!! Some F'd Up S***T!

Ok so I get a call for Subaru today, I am approved they said the car is mine. HELL YA> I told them that I was going to come in later to talk figures and they said alright. Around 2 i got off work and went in to talk to the financial specialist. I get there and wait around 10 minuets for the specialist and when i get in there he says alright $725 a month....lol

I thought he was joking, that was like 13% interest. I asked him what was going on and he said that Wachovia, and Bank of America both declined my application and that Subaru Financing was the only place that would take me. I was like huummmmm, ok. I look at the interest rate and it is 11.9%. I tell the guy that this is ridicules and said that its kind of odd that Ford approved me by myself for 3% interest on a more expensive car and that Subaru cannot even finance me for under 7%.

The financial then started to shake his head and then surprised me with this....There is no way with your credit score that Ford financed you with that interest rate....I was like whaaa? I kind of sat there for a minute then said whatever, thats ford and we arent dealing with them, lest get back to topic.

We then started to talk about monthly payment and I was like $725 is outrageous and I WILL NOT pay that. I then told him that if he was able to lower it to under $700 that I would sign the papers TODAY. He then surprised me again with...If $25 a month will make or break you then you dont need to be looking at a STi.

He get me off guard this time. I took it almost as if the STi was too good for me...I told him that I could in fact afford the $725/month but I set a limit and $700 a month was it. He then said that this was the best he could do. I got up ad walked out.

Once i got home i call the Subaru of Gwinnett manager and told him about my experience and he said that he was sorry and that he was going to try to fix everything and would call me back shortly....its been over 3 hours now and still no call.

Also I decided to call Wachovia to see if I really got rejected. I gave the rep all my information and I was in fact approved for a loan for the car....so My question is, why did Subaru say I was declined and when i called wachovia directly they approved me?

I had the worst experience ever with Subaru of Gwinnett and recommend that if you want bad customer service when buying a new car to stay away.

I WILL NOT BUY FOR SUBARU OF GWINNETT EVER OR RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. THE ONLY REASON I WILL EVER SET FOOT NEAR THE STORE WILL TO SEE SCOTT.

Try Capital One, or Chase, or Citi.

If Wachovia approved you why don't you just go with them and get the car?

The reason they want to force Subaru's financing on you at 13% is they get a kickback from Subaru for getting you to do the financing through them. The higher % your APR the higher the kickback the dealer gets from Subaru.

I went to Classic a while back and they were OK, kind of. I've heard a lot of good stuff about Troncalli Subaru up 400.

Is the limited at SoG the white one?

Man, not to hate, because im not a hater, and I have 0 reason to be. But you were born in 88 and you "ended up with a vette", drive a G35. Do you even have a job? Or does Dad pick up the tab for you?

Aside from being an actor, sports guy, or something of the sort, I just can't fathom a way for that kid to have a g35 and now a "vette". At his age, not that its not possible, just highly unlikely.

What down payment and how many months is that? $725 isn't bad if you put like 14k down on a 36 month note (Assuming 36k OTD price). With a reasonable APR like 5.5(I've seen plenty of 2.9 promotions on other cars), the payment would only be $660 and you'd save ~2300 in interest. Of course if they gave you 11.9%, I doubt that is the route you decided to take since a solid down wouldn't put you in that APR on a 36k car.

If you're doing 60 months, you should ask yourself if you can afford a car like that. Because by my calculations you are financing at least 33k of a 34k car (don't count tax since it goes to the gov't) and you're guaranteed to be upside down on it since you'll pay 42k in payments minus anything you put down (this is 700/mon and not 725).

General rule for being financially reasonable is to not break 8% of your monthly gross. If $700/mon is your limit, then you should be making 105k in salary and you should be able to buy a car like that w/ like 20k down or flat out cash. Most dealers will finance up to 20% of your gross which is a stupid amount to borrow on a car. That'd put your gross at ~40-45k which is far too little to be buying a 36k car. Insurance on a car like that is likely at least 150-200/mon and you'd probably get stuck buying gap insurance as well. 900-1k on a car is ridiculous unless you're talking about a E Class or nicer.

Given you're talking payments and not OTD price, you need to examine if a car like that is really going to be utilized to its full potential on the back of the Repo man's truck. Get a blank check from Capital One (usually 1% higher than a dealer promo APR) or buy a used WRX and be happy you can afford it.

hnmm... No pun to no one... But we cant sit here and blame the dealer when we dont even know the guys Credit score.

APR is based on your FICA score. you think if you walk into a dealer like that one with a 450- 520 score you going to get a 5 % interest rate? Doubt it.

It really depends on your score. If you have anything under a 650 Fica.. dont expect you apr to be that LOW. Im not saying is imposible for someone with a score uncer 650 or so to get like a 8% or something... anyways.. if your score is like 680 and above and they were trying to charge you 12 % or HIGHER.. then yes, they were rapping you up the ass.....

Also, Ford will finance anyone right now.... I mean.. they need cars in the rd at any cost.

Yeah WTF? He was born in 88? Hmmmm....and if dad is picking up the tab, why brag? You didn't earn it. Well I guess he wasn't but it seems like it when you say oh I could get this or this no big deal.

Not to be too annoying about it but they're FICO. I work for Fair Isaac . FICA is what you pay for Social Security and Medicare.

A big chunk of it is FICO...another big chunk of it is how much the dealer thinks he can get away with. Ed Voyles Acura salesman thought I was in love enough w/ a TSX to pay MSRP and 7.7% despite my nearly 800 credit score. Infiniti was nice enough to give me 4.9...they would have given me 2.9% on the coupe but I had enough coupes for now. My sister-in-law has over an 800 but she fell in love w/
her IS350 and the dealer got her to pay 6.5% w/ 15k down.

Sorry that should be more clear. 8% of your monthly gross.

    700/0.08 = $8750 gross monthly salary
    8750 * 12 = $105,000 annual gross

    700/0.20 = $3500 monthly gross
    3500*12 = $42,000 annual gross

Most people don't spend 8%...avg is around 11%. There's a reason why 1 out of 4 car notes is over 60 months now.

In this case.. .. Atleast we know where you stand with your credit score.... And is obvisous why you get a good APR.

But is up to the consumer to open there eyes and not be dumb enough with a 700 + Score to be happy with a 12% APR.. thats dumb...

your case is diffrent.. What I was saying is in this thread is, the person who started this thread didnt give all the specifics......

This is why you walk in the door with financing ready to go from a bank or someone else. Never tell the dealership this, of course.

Definitely agree. The thread starter needs to either post up all the details or seriously evaluate their financial status if they want to spend that kind of money on a car. The salesman stands to possibly make as much as 12-13k in pure profit off of them all b/c they want a badass car.

$700/mon is a car payment that few people can actually afford. Someone w/ a fairly decent job at 50k shouldn't be making a commitment like that. After insurance, gas, and maintenance, it's over 1/3 of the take home income off 50k. Unless you live at home and your parents pay for everything else in your life it's not close to affordable.

After insurance, gas, and maintenance, it's over 1/3 of the take home income off 50k. Unless you live at home and your parents pay for everything else in your life it's not close to affordable.

I agree.. shit, I got 2 car notes for a little bit more then that...

my credit score is a 668...thats why I was like why 13%

Also what I was going to do was get the car now and pay the $700 a month payments for a year. after a year I would have been able to sell my bike and my truck, total of $12-15K and refinance the car with this down. The only reason I was going to do everything with 0 down was because it was the LAST limited STi around and I wanted it. but for 13% i dont care if it was the last in the world, i cannot do it. I will just sell the bike and truck and with my tax return and my money from the car and bike put $20K ish down and get a normal STi at the end of February.

Also insurance isnt really a problem, Safeco insurance for full coverage and $500 deductibles is $75 a month. still with the parents and a b average student still, but still dont get HOPE ass hole government....

You just said your bank approved you so why would you have to see what rates the dealer gives you at this other place tomorrow?

Do you work in the Phillips building? I work there and I saw Fair Isaac has an office, along with Equifax.
