We will never be an isolated country, it isn't what we were founded on. No other country wh never fights, does not have nearly the same advances we do and/or the same freedoms, rights..

The US historically has always tried to remove itself as far away from the European realist balance of power politics as possible (granted that is no longer the leading political theory in that region but it was up until the cold war). Hmm lets count wars, Civil War with ourself, War of 1812 with Britain, Mexican War-really just imperialist conquests so we could take the west coast, Spanish-American war-started by us for no real gain, then WWI and WWII which we were dragged into. Harldy 'always at war', the 1800s were skirmishes for expanding the nation, 1900s were fighting for democracy. America wasnt ever a global superpower until after WWII when the rest of Europe was in shambles. If anything our nation was founded purely on the basis of isolation-the pilgrims came here to escape persecution, the revolutionaries wanted their own republic with freedoms found nowhere else in the world.
We will fight for others? No, we fight for our own agenda but in the post Cold-War society that has become being the world police. International politics are straying from the centuries old right to state-sovereignty to one of mutual responsibility to civil rights and norms that we believe should be universal (note I say WE BELIEVE).

Yes, I agree the pilgrims did move to get away from persecution, but they didn't move to be Isolated. If so, that means they would have never delt with the Native Americans.. And we all know what Thanksgiving is right?! Isolation is completely cutting off ties with all other people/nations. Did we not trade with others?
Also, if you have ever spent some real time in another country you will soon, wonder how we take things for granted. Little things.. You hate paying 2.50 for a gallon of gas. Think how that would be if your country had only one gas company and they were the monopoly. Expect to pay 5$ or more for the gallon. Police brutality.
