when I floor the gas pedal the engine revs up but takes a couple seconds for the car to actually start accelerating could this be my differential? its not grabbing right away.

I'm assuming from your user name that is an s13?
And I would lean more towards clutch before assuming rear diff.

my bad.stock ka24de on 91 240sx. but if clutch were good what else could cause this.
If the clutch were good???
You are making it very hard to help you dude.
You have a KA 24. Literally slower than a stock civic. That's your problem. You need to give more info for anyone to help.

If the rpms are increasing while the car is in gear, but its not accelerating, then its your clutch. Do you smell anything burning? What makes you believe it cant be the clutch, did you just change the clutch?
ok I appreciate the help I was just curious if it could be something else. and the ka24 is stomps stock civics. peace
You beat me to it. You are a good interneter

Let's evaluate this claim.
"KA24 stomps stock civics"
KA24DE, 155hp stock in it's highest trim in a late model 240sx.
so now lets see what we can find for a "stock civic"
one sec while i browse through the list of car and driver's 10 best, US car of the year award winners, European car of the year award winners, Motortrend car of the year award winners, (lol>) Irish car of the year award winners, Automobile magazine car of the year award winners, Brazil car of the year awards and African car of the year awards..... oops... almost forgot best new sports car award winner and canadian car of the year....
ok, think i found something acceptable...
Lets go with the EK9 hatchback. 2400lb curb weight, 185hp 1.6 liter engine..... sure the next generation had 197hp... but why bring a machine gun to a knife fight right? and lets just pretend this "STOCK CIVIC" below doesnt even exist....
oh... what's that you say??? Nissan never made a race car version of a KA24 powered 240sx????? the same engine they put in light duty nissan trucks and Altimas..... you should probably write them a letter about that or something.
Pretty much every single 240sx ever made ran a 16+ in the 1/4 mile, but in the spirit of fairness, we're going to give you credit for a 15.8 which is what i have listed for a stock 1995 240sx SE-R model.
A late model civic SI was tested at 15.1 by motortrend..... the 1997 Civic type R was tested at a 14.8 stock.
These arent even the fastest "stock civics" ever made. just the 1st ones that popped into my head.
any questions?
Enjoy your KA24 BEAST.... and know that every time you see one of these.....
Theyve got the same "BEAST" that you do.
i guess the point im trying to make is that Honda has spent decades of applying some of the best engineering in the world to the Honda Civic, a car that actually has a racing heritage and is an iconic figure in automotive history......
The 240sx is an american-ized shitbox made out of recycled soup cans that the japs slapped a truck engine in and shipped to the united states. The only thing a 240sx has going for it is that it's chassis is compatible with a Silvia drivetrain. For as much as the "economy car" label is attached to a civic..... the 240sx is the quintessential economy car.
That was pretty good
