Default Black Smoke first SR 240

Just bought a sr20det 240, this is my first sr motor and im making black smoke when i accelerate hard. I was thinking i just needed a retune but im posting just to make sure. Idle is perfect, and the car pulls HARD. Does anyone else know what i can try first before i drop some cash on a retune? thanks

Black smoke is fuel, car is probably way too rich.

sounds like you're running rich... but then again, almost every 240sx has big black soot stains on the rear bumper so it seems that all the cool kids are doing it lol.

Get it tuned, it'll run even better than it does now!
