Irresponsible gun ownership doesnt mean you should take away peoples right to own a firearm.

if thats the case, then we should have you hand over your license right now:

I didnt read the story, but if the family was negligent in locking up their firearm, then they should be tried and punished accordingly

I mean this whole thread is retarded.

Should we not sell fertilizer because of what Mcveigh did? Just refuse to grow any type of plants anymore because people will be safer? Where is the responsible knife control legislation because after all someone killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman with a butcher knife. What about car accidents? Should we start restricting car sales and taking those away?

This whole "guns killed someone so we should take guns away from law abiding people" argument is without merit. its so laughable its not even arguable.

    Ill make you a deal.

ABOLISH THE SECRET SERVICE and remove ALL WEAPONS and bodyguards from the politicians and "stars" of the world, and tell Obama his kids can no longer go to school with armed escorts, and he must travel in a non armor plated vehicle, and ill give you any gun legislation you want passed.

Or maybe, just maybe, we accept that there is evil in this world and there always has been, and no amount of laws will change that. Stop legislating bad things from happening, its not possible.

Nope. Neither is anyone else. I am intrigued, however, how the conversation ended up this far off track, and how this relates to taking away fertilizer and cars. Lol

Now you know that was why you posted this article. Otherwise whats the point?

You know im against this "obama comin to take my gunz" bullshit the right is hiding behind, but the lefts claims of outright abolishing are just as incoherently wrong

These articles just stoke the fires of misunderstanding. The pro-gun lobby never said that guns can't be misused or lead to tragedy. This is equivalent to posting an article about a burglar who shoots an unarmed homeowner and implies everything would have ended fine if that homeowner only had a gun. You said "More guns makes us safer.....right guys? " but that is a straw man. The pro gun lobby doesn't say more guns make us safer unequivocally. They understand the need for responsible ownership. That is a concern I hear them voice often.

This absurdly weak argument is out of character for you. I'll chalk you even posting this one up as a victory for me, since its obvious you are frustrated.

Democrats are the best gun salesman in the history of the world. Your aggressive stance against guns and gun culture causes people to rush out and buy guns in addition to preventing some people from receiving adequate training and education about gun safety. Democrats make us unsafe. Ban democrats.

It all ties together. Socialism is inherently anti-gun. You cant support a president who wants to drain the ocean and then say "i dont support the killing of dolphins".

Ok then maybe he likes guns but really just wanted to elect a black man. I hope you see my point. Voting for Obama does not mean you agree with all his policies.

Doesnt matter..... with a president this transcending, you can not wash your hands of his mistakes. If you voted for Obama, you voted for Obamacare and gun control.

Black people that voted for Obama because hes black to break the color barrier. I respect that....... but what you need to celebrate is that the american people voted to elect a black president and celebrate that, not the actual man sitting behind the desk. Because, black, white, yellow, green...... that man behind the desk is a worthless piece of shit. You can celebrate that we elected a black president without being delusional about how big of a mistake it was to elect Barrack Obama.

Comments like this are why you belong in the same category as sinfix. You post drivel and when called out on it, you post something even more asinine.

BTW, I really hope the deputy is charged with something along the lines of involuntary manslaughter. It was his gun, it was his responsibility to ensure it was properly stored and supervised.

I think the problem might be you homie. You seem to be unable to recognize when the arguments become sarcasm. Seeing as how most of my political views mirror your own, yet you claim to be in complete disagreement with me..... i think it's because you fail to realize when someone is being sarcastic or stupid on purpose. I feel like you take some comments literally, when theyre not meant to be.

Like this comment for example..... it's a solid back handed insult via obvious sarcasm. Blank does not mean this literally. He's speaking in a tone of " this is some dumb shit republicans would say "... and obviously he exaggerates it, since that's what liberals do. If we were having this conversation in person, he may even have delivered said punch line in a redneck caricature.

What ever happened to severely punishing irresponsible gun owners instead of everyone. That way the dude probably would have thought twice before presenting the 4y/o with easy opportunity/access.

I'm sure he will in the future- he paid a pretty hefty price for not storing his firearm in a safe way, especially with children around.

Liberals use every gun accident as ammunition against gun owns (pun intended) without recognizing that the only people putting any effort into gun safety is the gun community. Almost every gun store you will ever walk into offers training courses and information and they all diligently demonstrate safe gun practices with every gun they handle. Gun shows are the same way. The only reason you dont see commercials on tv or pamphlets in your grocery store reminding people about gun safety is because liberals think the only way to safely handle a gun is to crush it with a steamroller. For the number of guns and gun owners present in america, the actual number of "things that go wrong" is extremely low..... but that still doesnt stop bleeding heart scums of the earth like Piers Morgan from getting on TV every single day and shining a spotlight on every single thing in the world that happens with a gun.

Gun violence is in steady decline (in every state that didnt vote democrat) and it has been for the last 20-30 years..... the only thing on the incline is our ability to hear about it. 20 years ago, if someone got shot in Nebraska, people in Florida didnt read about it on twitter 5 minutes later. Democrats have their head so far up their own asses to realize that in every city where they actually got what they wanted, they ruined that city.

I think what Jimmy and I think is that sarcasm and intentional stupidity is not an effective way of changing someone's mind or to give validity to your argument. That however assumes your intent is to open minds to different views and to present valid arguments. I often get the impression that yours and blank's primary concern is winning the argument against each other rather than learning or having any sort of intellectual discussion. That's the reason Jimmy and I can disagree about so many things and still both take issue with your posts.

I understand where you're coming from with that, but it's simply me being me. I also think that some of our issues with each other might be that some people are coming to importatlanta, expecting the harvard law review, only to find that no, its actually importatlanta. I offer the opinions and insight of a "normal guy". Whether it seems like it or not, i am trying to understand the other side's view point, its just not that easy to do so. I think your expectations may be too high. The things we're currently arguing about are things that greater minds than our own have been arguing about for a 100+ years..... and guess what, they cant get along with each other either. I still like you...... even though i think some of your political views are asinine.

I don't want to imply that you have to be here for the same reason I am but it defenitely helps if we understand what is each others purpose for being here. The only expectation I have in here is that people be somewhat honest. Maybe that is too much to ask. I guess I just don't understand a desire to attack, insult, and exagerate whether it be online or face to face. In the end, you are right that we aren't going to solve national issues on an internet car forum. For me the takeaway is personal. I want to question my own beliefs and this forum acts as a mirror/sounding board. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and assume they have good intentions even if I find their beliefs to be flawed. That includes you.

This is exactly right. Leave the BS to the whoreslounge. I like to see actual debate. I really need to get off my ass and learn vbulletin. I want to start the forum I mentioned a couple months ago.
