After rethinking this, I'm convinced that this kids stepdad wanted to kill him and found a legal way to do so.

I hate how, in examples like this, they always say "speed was a factor in this crash". Speed had nothing to do with it. It was 100% inexperienced driver.

What do you mean speed had nothing to do with it? You don't exactly end up 60 yards into the woods by going 10 mph, I understand the inexperience but speed had everything to do with it.

I dont know the road, so I cant comment on road conditions. However, the article quoted the cops as saying "speed was a contributing factor". It wasnt just speed, but unnecessary speed did play a role.

There is a possible black box to be found, and they might be able to find out what exactly happened.

Speed never hurts or kills. It's abrupt/improper stopping that causes injuries and deaths. Outlaw improper stopping and let us go as fast as we want. :-p

He must have been going really fast to not be able to stop in time. The braking system on that car is pretty beast.

Just because the car has a "Race" setting doesn't mean you are equipped to use it.

He passed away, oh well. Now the father can regret his dumb decision of getting his son that car even more.

I say they throw murder charges on dad. He pleads out to involuntary manslaughter and sets a future precedent for all fathers around the country to think twice about getting their brain dead kids quarter million dollar race cars

weren't you the one preaching forgiveness and mercy in the other thread? I believe that having a son that has passed away would be punishment enough.....

This was an ACCIDENT. Accidents happen, however, Murder doesnt just "happen"

It was a dad who was spoiling his son, we all would do it if we had the money, its what parents do. Maybe buying an EIGHTEEN year old a ferrari wasnt the smartest decision, but that's negligible. His son passed away, because of a decision he made. Living with that for the rest of his life would be punishment enough.

I wouldnt be surprised if the dad committed suicide, to be honest.

Oh, and "all fathers around the country" wont give two fucks about what happens to some other guy, no one can tell you how to raise your own children.

I never said anything about forgiveness and I never said anything about killing the father. I'm talking about sending a message to parents whos wealth has clouded their ability to think logically, who buy their children high dollar high powered sports cars when they don't yet have the cognitive ability to handle the responsibility of driving something like that. This isn't about telling someone how to parent their kids at all, because at the end of the day, EVERYONE'S lives are at stake when dumbasses are on public roads like that. He's already halfway killed his buddy, what if he ran into your daughter doing 100 while she was on her way home?

You're right, partially. Like I said, accidents happen. And money can cloud judgement, but it doesnt have to. My buddy's parents are multi-millionaires, and they could have gotten him a GTR for his 16th, but they didnt. They bought him a 350z, which is still a lot for a 16 year old to handle, but nothing like a GTR or a F430. This shows that money cancloud judgment, but doesnt always.

I cannot imagine losing a child, especially when it was my fault. That would be punishment enough for me, as I know i couldnt stand the guilt.

It really is a Sad story all the way around, but why make a sad situation worse by adding charges to the equation. Sometimes its best to just let things go.

It really is remarkable he didnt hurt anyone else aside from his buddy.

This is simply a conversation, man. No offense intended.

forgiveness wasnt the right word choice, perhaps.

    Leniency, that suit better?
