So you think a traitor should get a peace prize? Manning should have been executed on the spot. A single .50 cal round to the head, then let the body rot out in the desert.

Its really just pathetic and sad if this is really the way you think. Its not even worth an honest discussion.

Prosecute Obama for war crimes then, mr 3 wars.

If you dont like the USA, you can leave anytime. The fact you are championing a person who arguably could have caused another 9/11 by leaking national security information, is highly offensive. If he thought there were things going on that were "war crimes" he could have handled it under the correct code of conduct and laws that govern our society, rather than sneaking and dumping documents to people that leak it to our enemies.

hes a sad excuse for an american, and if youre serious about this, you are too.

Hmmm, so to conservatives, war crimes are only war crimes if they are committed by our enemies right?

So when the U.S. military knowingly murders and bombs non-combatants and civilians, and then hides it, its not a war crime. Then when a soldier calls the U.S. out on their shit, he's a traitor deserving of death.

    Interesting how that works

I have a small view of the world, but YOU'RE wishing death on someone who called out the US military on murdering a bunch of innocent civilians. Hmm.

I take it by your unwillingness to defend your position that you probably dont know much about the situation, other than the opinion Sean Hannity gave you, nor have read any of the documents, or seen any of the bombing footage? Am I in the ballpark here? Is there something I'm missing in my limited worldview where bombing civilians is acceptable? I suppose if the Afgan military came over here in a helicopter and carpeted your neighborhood because they thought there were insurgents there, it would be cool cause that was just casualties of war? Is this what Im supposed to believe?

    http://www.salon.com/2011/12/24/the_...nings_critics/

Just as Ellsberg came to realize the evil of the war of which he was a part and felt compelled to act to expose it even at the risk of his own liberty, so, too, did Manning (in the chat logs Manning purportedly said: “im not so much scared of getting caught and facing consequences at this point… as i am of being misunderstood”). The Army Private also explained in the chat logs that he began to realize how heinous the Iraq War was when he discovered that “insurgents” being rounded up and imprisoned by the U.S. Army were doing nothing more than issuing “scholarly critiques” of the Malaki government’s corruption — only to find that his Army superiors ignored his discovery when he brought it to their attention. Both Ellsberg and (allegedly) Manning then did the same thing: turned over the information they discovered to a third party to select the parts that should be published to the world (The New York Times for Ellsberg and WikiLeaks for Manning)
-US military commits war crime, actively covers it up
-Soldier confronts superiors about said war crime about how its wrong, and is subsequently ignored
    -Soldier releases information
-Soldier is arrested for "aiding an enemy"[Punitive Articles of the UMCJ - Article 104 http://usmilitary.about.com/od/punit.../a/mcm104.htm] (the information was given to Wikileaks and NYTimes, both of which the U.S. is not at war with, nor are enemies of any state)
-Soldier is being held indefinitely in accordance with the AUMF act., and as a U.S. citizen, is against his constitutional rights

From what I know, I am a bit in the middle here. It seems to me his legitimate concerns went ignored. Everyone should stand up against the killing of innocent people. In that respect, I comend him. The problem however is that he didn't exercise enough discretion in dealing with getting the information out. It was not necessary to leak 250,000 documents to a foreign national in order to get the attention necessary to deal with the problem. He should have contacted media outlets or other sources with only information directly related to the crimes he saw.

There was something he wrote down in a log somewhere, I can find it, where he stated that he found a bunch of rather awful, unsecured information that he felt compelled to release to American public. I'm not entirely sure that ALL 250,000 documents had to do with what happened. If they did, great, if not, meh. Worst thing that could happen is it compromises soldiers security. All the more reason to get the fuck out

And idk if any of you have friends that have been to the middle east(who aren't psychotic sociopaths) but after hearing what goes on over there, I'm not totally against what this guy did. I know multiple people who have wanted to go public over what they saw but haven't because they're scared to. I think he went about it the wrong way, but assuming "it's gonna cause another 9/11" is ignorant. And even if it does....who's fault is it really? Throw in a little discrimination on who you decide to shoot, and this problem is avoided.
