Im not trying to be an ass, my apologies... But, I smoked pot for many years when I was a teenager, and I was lazy and worthless at that time. I now notice that, now that im alot older...

I just dislike when someone uses whatever vice they may have, as an excuse for not being the exact same way as if you didn't have that in your life. Get what im sayin'?

Marijuana is no better or worse than alcohol. There are douchebags who abuse both, and those people are always douchebags with or without the drug. Marijuana is so ubiquitous that you really can't contain it anymore. Cops know its everywhere, but they have bigger fish to fry with the hard drugs like crack and meth.

I really think the "war on drugs" needs to shift its focus away from marijuana entirely, and concentrate on hard drugs like meth and crack. Those are far more of a menace to society than weed.

As for people growing weed, how many people grow their own tobacco or grow their own food? Both of those are perfectly legal, as is making your own beer, wine, and even liquor in small amounts (you run into trouble when you try to sell alcohol or tobacco without paying taxes on it).

Also, pot is something anyone can grow, but few people have teh skills to do it right and grow good female plants. Even fewer people have the skills to properly process and cure said buds.

Almost of the crime associated with pot comes from the illegal market. By legalizing we make those who are in that market legal businessmen. So the crime involved with the trade will disappear. Also, it will free up space in the prisons for those who are in for hard drugs and/or violent crimes. Not to mention it will generate tax revenue for states that are going broke, like GA.

You act as if everyone will be smoking that shit if it were to be legalized. Not everybody drinks alcohol just because it is legal. Alcohol USED to be to illegal at one time remember that. I wouldn't be surprised if marijuana were to be legalized in my lifetime. For medical reasons marijuana is already legal in a couple of states. The weight issue won't be a problem if it were to be legalized. AGAIN, blame yourself if you are overweight.

ok let me say it again, my opinion is that the shit wont be legal,its worth to much being illegal....

if it gets legalized i hope they can control it,cause right now thats the only reason they dont,they can package it sell it and tax it ,but they will never control it.there are alot of talented farmers out there and thats why. unless they say ok its legal to buy but you cant grow it. and that wont stick at all. if you wanna go somewhere its kinda legal but not,move to mendicino cali,lots of burn outs up there...enjoy yourslef get high and cop out....

If it gets legalized, of course it will be controlled. I'm pretty sure there will be growers also, but what is the point in growing it when you are going to have to sell it cheaper than they have it at the market? Plus, it MUST be quality stuff. If someone actually grew some themselves, it would be for personal use. Is it not illegal to make your own alcohol? Some still do it though, but not for profit.

Its not really hard to tell if someone is stoned. Not quite sure how they'd measure intoxication level, but I would think the same roadside test they use for alcohol DUI's would suffice.

The one thing I like about pot is that the effects don't last as long as alcohol. Even after smoking the strongest strains of pot, people are usually good to drive within an hour. Whereas if they drink too much, they may have to wait several hours to sober up, if they don't get sick / pass out.

I have never and I shall never but would love to see this legalized and regulated by the Feds. It would be a helluva revenue for the government. Unfortunately there is the snag of not being able to "test" people for it in a meaningful way. The use of should definitely be confined to the home but because of the problem of testing it never will be legal. Technology may catch up eventually.

Ok, so not everyone who smokes is lazy and worthless. I smoke literally every day yet I still manage to work and make a living for myself (I live on my own), go to school and maintain good grades, and handle life accordingly. Honestly, I smoke before I run errands (pay bills, grocery shop, hanging out, etc.). I have been a smoker for 8 almost 9 years now. I've never been the one to get high and sit on my ass all day starring off into outer space. Never was my forte. Getting high is no different from getting drunk except the after effects like nausea, double vision, vomiting, slurring of the words, bad judgments, etc.
As far as legalizing it, I don't know if it will ever happen. Maybe one day, but who knows. I know I am not going to waste my time worrying about it

I personally believe in individual responsibility and states rights so I think it should be legalized (if you choose to do it then you have to live with the consequences). If it must be illegal then it should be done at the state level, not by the federal government.

I don't know why testing is an issue for some people. It's not like cars and booze weren't around before breathalizers.
