Even if Karl Rove is correct, which I am not saying that he is, he has no room to criticize Obama, when he contributed to the problem.

it's definitely the pot calling the kettle black (el oh el, no pun intended), but that doesn't mean it makes it right for obama to do what he's doing now.

Rove is a shady guy and can't be trusted with anything. He was just questioned for 8 hours the other day about when he and Bush tried to fire a bunch of federal prosecutors so they could cherry-pick their replacements and load the DOJ up with Bush/Rove lackeys.... which would have been both patronage and would have given them carte-blanche to do whatever they wanted without fear of federal prosecution.

Its on the other news sites as well. The facts are that Rove testified and thats what he was charged with. There's smart, and there's sneaky. Rove is smart about being sneaky.

Here's the article from a conservo-bot apporved source:

    Charged? charged with what?

Did you even read the article? Or are you just saying what you want to hear?
WASHINGTON -- Former Bush White House official Karl Rove was questioned by House Judiciary Committee lawyers Tuesday on any role he may have played in politically motivated firings of U.S. attorneys.

Committee Chairman John Conyers, D-Mich., confirmed Rove's closed-door appearance through a committee spokesman who was not authorized to be quoted by name.

The committee has been seeking answers on who created the list of federal prosecutors who would lose their jobs. Conyers has suspected the trail led to the White House but couldn't prove it. Former President George W. Bush asserted executive privilege for Rove and former White House lawyer Harriet Miers and refused to let them testify.

An agreement was struck in March between Rove's lawyer and the committee for Rove, who was Bush's top political adviser, to testify on the prosecutors' firings, as well as the prosecution of former Gov. Don Siegelman of Alabama. Siegelman, a Democrat, has alleged that his prosecution was pushed by Republicans, including Rove.

The agreement called for Rove to testify "under the penalty for perjury," Conyers has said. The committee could release the transcripts afterward, but the agreement also allowed for public testimony.

Nine U.S. attorneys were fired. An internal Bush Justice Department investigation concluded that political considerations played a part in at least four of the dismissals.

Rove's appearance before the Judiciary Committee was first reported Tuesday night by the Web site Politico.

Did you see the part where it said "under the penalty of perjury". I thought the deal was Rove testified so they wouldn't charge him with perjury and obstruction of justice? So while he hasn't been charged with any crime, he is forced (see also: charged, alternate definition) to testify.

The whole shebang was an investigation of the executive branch... of which Rove is a part. So while formal charges may or may not be pending... Rove has a role in the suspected wrongdoing.

Anytime you speak to congress you are under oath. Look at GM and Ford and all the automakers on capital hill. They were sworn in. They werent CHARGED with anything. But they were talking under penalty of perjury . If they lied they could be charged.

Rove is not charged with any crime what so ever

No he was to talk to the committee. Bush used executive privledge to keep Rove from having to testify at all, but it seems they were pushing for it anyway.

Back to the main point though:

Obama lies about his programs and the money it takes to run those programs. I mean Stimulus 1 was NOT a stimulus. We have spent less than 5% of the money for something we were told had to be done RIGHT THEN.

Unemployment is well above what Obama said it would be (he said 8% we are at 9.5%)

Obama and Biden are ON RECORD saying that "we didnt fully understand the economic situation". So why should we trust him on anything else? I mean that was his 1 motherfuckin job. The Economy. And he cant figure that out? granted its a tough problem, but passing a pork riddled 787 billion dollar 1400 page bill in 3 days is the answer?

I love the new soundbite he has "if you like your coverage you can keep it nothing will change"

THAT IS A LIE. Obama is going to tax the Healthcare benefits to pay for it what does that mean?

    If your employer uses:

Insurance Company A charges you $100 a month
Insurance Company B Charges you $200 a month
Government Company charges you $50 a month

What do you think your employer is going to do? Hes going to have to go to the cheapest, because now if he stays with what you have, his cost is going to go UP. We are in a recession amidst layoffs. Is it really smart to raise the cost of ANYTHING?

So your plan that you like is going to disappear because your employer will no longer be able to afford it.

Obama wants to dictate what doctors get paid. He wants to cap their salaries. Sorry folks, if you have the talent you get paid the most or better than others. Why make everyone equal? thats communism/facism/socialism anyway you slice it.

So your $100/$200 a month healthcare got you access to the best doctors, medicine, etc. Your $50 a month govt plan gets you less access, less trained doctors, generic medicine, etc.

    Which is better?

Something needs to be done, but THIS ISNT IT.

You've got to be kidding me... he's had several situations going on right now, all of about equal priority...

    Keeping the auto industry afloat
    Health care reform
    The Sandbox
Iran, North Korea, and nuclear proliferation
Closing Gitmo and investigating torture there
Appointing a judge to the Supreme Court

Most of the money hasn't been spent because state and local governments are still in the planning phase of the programs that will use stimulus money.

When you're building a building, you don't start pouring the foundation once the grant is approved... you have to pick an architect to design the thing, get bids from contractors, see that the design meets all the local codes and zoning ordinances, etc. Thats where a lot of the projects that will use stimulus money are right now.

Using tax payer money to run failing car companies
Health care screwover of half the country, the other half was already screwed
The Sandbox hasn't seen much change, most was already decided on before he came into office
Iran, North Korea hot air, nothing has been "done" to keep NK from shooting/testing nukes, nothing has been said other than words to Iran on their handling of the election
Closing Gitmo and investigating torture there so that we may have more ppl linked with terrorism on the loose
Appointing a potentially racist judge to the Supreme Court, but anything to further his own motives in the long run

Right, it takes time to figure out how to fix everything. So tell me again why it was such a crazy-rush to get this stimulus through congress then instead of taking the time to do it right?? I mean if there were state and local gov't waiting on it like we were told then this shouldn't be an issue.

Also, of those things you stated as "all that junk he has to be paying attention to" the first 2 can both be lumped under "economy" and the rest are under the heading of "foreign policy" so I don't see how it's a long list at all. It's the 2 main things he said he was going to fix immediately and he's done basically dick except fall through on ALL of the promises he made during the campaign.

Had the stimulus not gone through quickly, they would still be dicking around about it and even less would be getting done. Regardless of when the thing actually would have went through, there would have been a delay in when the money was made available and when the money was actually used. Well executed projects take planning, and planning takes time.

Obama has done a hell of a lot more good by doing "basically dick" than Karl Rove has done by being a dick.

Had the stimulus not gone through quickly we the taxpayer might actually know what it was we bought for our money. The clever people might also have spotted the glaring errors that allowed the money to be spent in ridiculous ways like bonuses for execs.

And no, you're wrong. I assure you the state and local gov'ts started planning the second they were told there might be money coming their way. It would be silly to wait until the money's in their hands to plan what to do with it, and that's just not the way the real world works.

To use your analogy, when you're building a building, you don't wait until the contractors are standing around on the job before you get the architect to start drawing. Just like the bank doesn't lend you money to build anything without an idea what it's for. Only gov't would be that stupid....

No one is comparing Obama and Rove. In fact they're both pretty much bottom feeders in my opinions. The difference though is that Rove is sneaky, Obama is just a flat out liar that makes empty promises with no intention of backing them up.

But, if the fallout over the economic promises and the whole "troops out of Iraq in 18 months" is getting you worked up, just wait until he falls through on this healthcare agenda that has absolutely no basis in reality. He's already changed his mind about taxing people other than the rich, I'm pretty sure this health thing is a bit of smoke and mirrors too.

edit- oh, and i'd like to go on the record as saying this is probably the first time I've ever actually agreed with every single thing vteckidd has said, lol.

But your president said that unemployment wouldnt pass 8% if the stimulous was passed. What happened to that? Oh thats right, Biden said they made a mistake. Maybe that mistake the passing the so called stimulus to start with?

Well planned legislation takes time also, so why shouldnt we step back and really figure things out instead of just randomly passing spending bills. Also, remember when he said there were already thosands of "shovel ready" projects? What happened to those? Instead the money that has been spent has simply gone to state govts to fill budget gaps.

Name a single good thing he has done.

Cant use the economy, it has gotten consistantly worse since he took office.

Cant say foreign affairs, all he has done on that front is get punked by NK and Iran, and apologize for being American.

Cant say domestic policy, the only things he has done there is let terrorists loose and sign a useless bill about unprovable wage discrimination.
