So certain local school systems gave their teachers a book to read from for earth-day, I find it funny that each year the people who sponsor it make us ( americans) the horrible polluters of the world.So here are a list of the biggest sponsors of the book and the logic they used. Even though we have some of the cleanest manufacturing processes in the world.
PETA- enough said with just the name, there is no point in bashing them they do enough on their own accord.
WWF- No it is not the wresting group it is the World Wildlife Federation, They are claiming that Global warming is killing the polar bears yet over the last 10 years there has been a stunning spike in their population. They also have a very strong holding in the "Green" movement, and are lobbing very hard to push Obama's new green bill through congress. Not to mention this "not for profit" group has holdings in a lot of the companies pushing the " green" technology.
Green Peace- Well Just like PETA They shoot themselves in the foot more than i could ever counter their points with such quotes from people like Paul Watson ( Green Peace Co founder) " I got the impression that instead of going out to shoot birds =, I should go out and shoot the kids that shoot birds"
Earth First- The FBI calls them a " Special Interest extremest group known t conduct acts of politically motivated violence to force segments of society, including the general public, to change attitudes about issues considered important to their causes. These groups have turned to vandalism, terrorist activities and acts of violence to further their causes"
There a numerous other groups that helped write this book( Al Gore being one), they are pushing " Global warming" even though most of Antarctica is getting colder, and they are claiming that the ice caps are melting, though there are numerous glaciers that are actually on the move. Just thought I would share this with you all and also tell you that there will be kids coming around to your houses to get you to join them in turning off you lights for an hour to help stop global warming. When they do I urge you to do as my wife and I have and Say no I will not support some unfounded cause.

Horner and no it is not a Right wing book, it is a book about debunking the myths.

Cliffs:

1.)
Mann and his colleagues are credited with debunking the "hockey stick graph" because they looked at the data on seeds and tree rings and found it was inaccurate.

2.)
Horner (who is a lawyer by trade and often represents conservative causes) and others with political axes to grind use Mann's article to discredit global warming.

3.)
Mann publishes second article telling them that his findings do not mean that global warming is a myth, they just mean its not as bad as the previous graph states. The rise in temperature is still unprecedented.

1- While a few scientists speak of global warming as a fact, many more—especially those who are directly involved in climate science—say the data do not support it. To date, 19,700 scientists, including 2,660 physicists, geophysicists, climatologists, meteorologists, oceanographers, and environmental scientists, have signed a petition sponsored by the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine that discounts global warming. Its accompanying report concludes:

To the contrary, during the 20 years with the highest carbon dioxide levels, atmospheric temperatures have decreased. (1)

2-Dr. Ulrich Berner, a German geologist, cited global temperature variations in the past as evidence that human activity is unrelated to climate change. A study of surface temperatures in the Sargasso Sea over the past 3,000 years (determined by isotope ratios of marine organism remains in sediment), showed an average temperature of 23ºC. The present average temperature is below the 3,000-year average by a few tenths of a degree (2)

3-Dr. Berner also explained that extensive analysis of carbon dioxide concentrations show that elevated CO2 levels do not necessarily lead to climate change. He said, "There are numerous temperature changes which are not mimicked by the CO2 concentration." In fact, according to MIT meteorologist Richard S. Lindzen, worldwide CO2 concentrations over the past century have increased from 0.028% to 0.036%, an insignificant percentage (3)

4- temperature readings from the last sixty years show "no appreciable warming since 1940," said Singer. "This would indicate that the human effects on climate must be quite small." He suggested that the primary influence on climate change is—of all things!—the sun. The sun has been shown to go through long-term changes in activity, varying the amount of radiation aimed at the earth and causing the mean temperature to rise or fall. These shifts have a far greater effect on climate than greenhouse gases. (4)

5-The West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) is of particular concern to environmentalists, as they estimate that if it collapses, sea levels could rise by as much as five meters. As late as June 2002, two U.S. scientists reported in the journal Science that the floating fringes of the WAIS are melting faster than previously suggested because the surrounding seawater is warming.(5) However, their findings have drawn criticism because they used satellite radar interferometry rather than on-location samples.

Other research, however, has found that the WAIS is actually thickening, not thinning. A January 2002 article in Science found evidence that not only is the "retreat" of the WAIS coming to an end, but the ice sheet is actually growing by 26.8 gigatons each year.(6) This concurs with studies that say Antarctica is cooling, not warming. One University of Illinois at Chicago study found that temperatures had cooled as much as 0.7ºC per decade between 1986 and 2000.10 (7)
