    Default shifter carts- need info..

hey, I went to andretti (spell check) motor speed way.. and we rode the go carts there, and man I have to say I think I am addicted.. I am now in the market for a shift cart of some sort..

my first question is, where can I ride it competatively?? I am lookin into the scca and if there are classes for these carts.. I know there are, but I really wanted to see if there was a scene in the local atlanta area? is there a set of forums here or else where, where I can start reading and learning..??

I am sellin (or trading for a cart) a 2001 yz80 and then a buddie and i were goin to go in on a cart.. or just build one.. I have always wanted to goto the track and race somthing, and street bikes and cars are (really) expensive to track them, but these carts seem (a little) cheaper and their performance speaks for itself..

first off its Karts not a shopping Cart.
And if u ever put the word "Go" in front of "Kart" u will be banned from all tracks

-WKA, they do tours, and provide standards for most local events.
-Shifter Karts are fast as hell, most people that start on a 80cc or 125cc shifter usually piss thier pants and are never competative.
-Most people start in a Briggs class or Yamaha Can class. I personally, would start in Yamaha can class. I made this decision after countless hours of research and going to the track many many weekends and talking with drivers.
-Margay is probably my fav chassis for the price. Hasse, CRG make great chassis also. Coyote makes great chassis, my fav I belive for Briggs.
-Hope u have a good 5-6grand laying around to get started (maybe a little less).
-Only asphault road course in this damn redneck, oval loving souther POS state is in Barnsville. they run sats all day i belive. last i checked it was 25 for admin and 15 for insurance, for all day open class. thats if they are even still open.
    -Margay Brava 1.4 yummyyy

i also think this thread would be better suited in the "competition" section, mods

try bigsouthseries.com they are the least expensive to start road racing with i racing a 125cc kart for about 3 years it is fun but expensive. they race at talledega grand prix, road atlanta, roebling road, carolina motor sports park, and i think now they go to barbers as well. great series with great people the best thing to do is go to a race and meet poeple and check out all the classes. good luck

its a good series, but those tracks are waayyyy too big for karts. IMO. not bashing, just saying the smaller tracks appear more competative. ????

yeah i agree with u on the size of the track u could still mix it up in small groups so it was still fun. there just isnt enough small road courses around here in ca. there is one in damn near every town. so my youger brother sent his kart (cts) to my older brother in ca. he goes allmost everyday now.
