    Default just another stang

im not really new here i've just been lurking until i got something good enough to show. i had/have a 240sx but it's slowly dying on me so i picked this up.

im new to the whole american car thing but it has a built 302 with 20k miles, a cam, and a short shifter. its also an ex-state patrol vehicle from FL. i actually spent less than i had intended on it so the extra money will go towards small things (A/C, e-brake, speedo, etc.) and touching up the paint obviously.

Who told you it was a Florida SSP car? What was the original color and what year is it?

Several things just from the photo are telling me that it is a standard 5.0 and not a SSP car from Florida.

Did ya check the numbers on the core?

Nice ride and I think you will enjoy it either way. I also like the upgraded seats.

Do you have any engine shots? What cam/gears are you running in it?

I got ya a helluva hookup on the paint but it is up here by Athens, Ga.

it's a 1991. as far as it being a state patrol car, it has the vehicle number on the inside of the driver side door that was used to tell them apart im guessing. it also has a VERY bright light on the "ceiling" that i was told they used to see the paperwork they were doing in the dark. i ran a carfax on it and it doesnt have any records of even being registered until 1997.

i'll get some engine shots soon and im not sure about the cam/gears its running yet.

The map light came in just about every Mustang made in the fox body era. The V.I.N. is on the inside of the door jam of all of mine. Now not being registered until 97 strikes a clue.

On the core support look for a I.D. tag or a sequence of numbers. If you find them shoot me a P.M. with them and I will trace it/decode for ya. If it is indeed a SSP car then you have a nice collector car. They are getting very hard to find and most don't sell them once they get em in their possession.

To find your rear gear ratio... Jack the rear of the car up and get it securely on jack stands. Have someone turn the back right wheel exactly one revolution while you count how many times the drive shaft turns. If the drive shaft turns 3 1/4 times then you probably have 3.27 gears. If it turns 3 1/2 times then my guess would be 3.55 gears and so on.

The most popular gears in the mustangs will range from 2.73, 3.27, 3.55, 3.73, 4.10 and 4.30's.

Good luck and like I said before, nice ride.

    thanks everyone.

bugman - i'll check all that out for ya. thanks for the help!

transaxle - yeah a lot of ppl dont like the duckbill (i think that's what it's called). but it looks great with the hood. if the stock hood was on it i'd take the duckbill off too.

i also forgot to mention the hood is fiberglass so it's very light.

Actually over 40 now... Don't cut me short.

JK and thanks for the backing. Is your car still running this go around? It sounded badazz @ the last Sonic meet when I heard ya pulling in/out. What exhaust are you running?

    Welcome
I ragged on him enough, wasn't even gonna mess with the wing thing.

I am sure you remember the Dugan whale tail? I have a small wing on one of my copes and to be honest I kinda like the way it looks with it's stance and color.
