Default FS: 1981 Yamaha XS 400 Special - lowered price $500

I have a lead on getting a bike that I really want, and I have no parking room, so this toy goes up for sale. Here is what it is:

    1981 Yamaha XS 400 Special
    15,412 miles
new battery, oil filter, spark plugs, etc.
new ignition switch, good tires, etc.

I have not cranked the bike, so I do not know how well it runs. Bike was sitting in the previous owners garage for a couple of years, and he did not know what he had to do to make it run. I have found that the clutch lever switch, the ignition switch, and the spark plug wires were not right and would not let it crank. I have replaced quite a few parts, like the ignition switch, new Yuasa battery, ignition coils/wires, etc. Sounds like it has good compression when you kick it over though. Carbs will need to be cleaned, but this is a good project bike.

It will still need some small parts, like mirrors, taillight, etc, and will need a custom seat pan made to mount the seat (former owner had started converting it to a bobber). Bike will require a little work to get it ready to ride, but many of the more expensive items are already purchased and on it - like tires, battery, new switch, etc.

The photos were taken before I added some of the new parts, but it is pretty much the same visually.

    PM me with any questions.

    Lowered Price - Now $500
