adjusting 89 civic clutch cable

i have it adjusted already but my question is, it normal for the adjusting nut to be near the bottom of the threads on the clutch cable.

No its not normally the far out. Cable has probably stretched over the years, and also the rubber bushing at the end compresses over time. As long as youve got threads left and its adjusted properly, leave it!
