yes you will just have a check engine light. i dont have a knock sensor on my b16 and vtec works just fine
That fine if I have check engine light, what do I have to do to get my vtec to work ?
Bump
on a OBD2 car it might not work, OBD1 you can def have vtec without knock CEL or not..
My car is obd1 , how do I do it ? Any links or anything?
He has a p28. Since you have a D16z6 and you also have a P28 ecu, you don't need to worry about anything with a knock sensor at all...
I am confused, are you needing to run the wiring for vtec to the ecu, or are you just trying to bypass the vtec pressure switch? Both can be done easily.
If you are wanting to just run the wiring for vtec then you need to run the Vtec solenoid plug wire to A4, then you will need to run a wire to D6
Here is a pic of bypassing the pressure switch. It also shows where to wire the pins into the ecu plugs for Vtec to be wired up. I hope this helps.

he put p2p earlier...![]()
p28 dose NOT read knock sensor.
knock sensor is introduced in the obd2s
if your trying to run p2p, your fucked bro.
obd2 can NOT read some of the obd1 sensors (z6).
you can not add a knock sensor onto a d16z6 without drilling a hole the size of a quarter. STRONGLY suggest it not being try(ied)
im guessing the z6 is going into the ek?
grab a obd2-obd1 jumper harness to jump the p28.
