    Default crx tranny problem

I have an 88 crx si tranny with a dohc zc right now. I couldn't get it to go in any gears while the car is running, but it will shift through all of them while the car is off. I tried starting it while it was in gear, but when I let out the clutch and tried to move, it started grinding bad. Any ideas? I had to leave it in a neighborhood until I can get it towed later today.

    Default hey bud

I dont think its a tranny problem.

-diaphram sping came out of the disc
-pressure plate fingers bent or broken
    -clutch master cylinder bad
    -clutch slave cylinder bad
    -leaky clutch line
    -broken clutch release fork

Those a probable reasons. Try bleeding the master cylinder might work as well??

edit: might be throw out bearing..but this is a clutch related issue.

I had the same exact problem. It was that one of the springs in the clutch came out... It is the clutch. Not a tranny problem.

should be clutch. My spring on the clucth disk broke when the tranny hit something while the clutch was engaged. This is b/c the assembly is free floating and the shock broke a piece off the disc.

If you want to see if your trany is good just drive it with out the clutch changing gears at the right rpms should go right in . I have driven many cars to the shop when the clutch spring poped out as everybody has already said . I have also seen 500 auto zone clutches pop springs out being two weeks old there just garbage so replace with a nice clutch unless you want the same problems . im sure trany is fine or as least as good as it was before this happened this is deffently a clutch not trany problem or a cable problem . also check your cable adjustment i have seen the set screw slip and fall out of adjust ment so your not actualy disengaging the clutch when you push it in . Get somebody in the car to push the clutch and stand outside and watch the shift fork see if it moves up almost two inches or see if it moves at all you will notice if something is wrong.
