    Default Volkswagen question

So my friend is wanting to buy a 96 jetta 2.0. The car has a broken timing belt and the owner doesn't know anything about the car, but he did say that when the timing belt broke it did not make any weird noises it just stopped working. My question to you, and I know its a long shot, does anyone know if this motor is an interference motor or not.

    Thanks ahead of time
    Cody

Auto Data Timing Belts 2005 says it IS an INTERFERENCE motor and valve to piston contact is most likely to occur in the event of a timing belt breaking. price out a motor, but vw in general suck ass, i'd rather have a hyundai
