Fuck that, I'd take a WRX. In fact, that's what I'm aiming for when I can afford a new(er) car.

It take alot to get anything over 200whp from a na ka. I have an AEM intake, obx headers, magnaflow carsoundn high flow and way to ******* big exhaust. If i had it turned I could probably get 170 whp. The only difference I noticed is it pulls all the way to redline instead of dying at 5k, but I lost low low end tq. Everything you ever wanted to know about anything Nissan and hands down the BEST 240 information forum is on www.freshalloy.com . Like any forum search before posting or they will eat you alive. If you lok hard enough you will find what you are looking for. There are not many questions out there about 240s that have not been allready asked on freshalloy.

    I have.

There are a bunch of high compression KA's that make that power.

Even some SOHC KA's that do it.

It's actually easier to get a single cam over the 200whp mark because when the sohc ka motor came out alot of racing parts were prduced for it because of people dropping it into the 510s and using the early model s13s for racing. After the early 90s not alot of ka powered cars were used for racing anymore even wth the introduction of the dohc motor.

To get a dohc motor over 200 whp you would need an intake, exhaust, head port, cams, lightened flywheel, dyno tune it with an aftermarket fuel management program or an apexi safc, and maybe even a custom aluminum or carbon fiber drive shaft, or shafts. That combination would get you probably 210 or maybe even 220 at the wheels. Then again, a turbo kit and fresh motor would cost a little more and get you 350 at the wheels. The ka motor was never designed to make hp like the sr. Because of its long stroke it does not agree with "high" rpm high load duty. It is a truck motor, made for torque.

I would just save and get an sr20. I know alot of people dont want them because "everyone" has one but there is a reason they are so popular. The sr20det is one of the best motors ever built. Lighter, more powerfull, and higher revving then the ka. Also unlike other small displacement motors *cough*honda*cough* they make something called torque.

Or save up and have the ka blueprinted and balanced so you can boost it and rev the shit out of it. Hell a Nascar motor has a longer stroke then a ka and those things will sit at 9k all day long under load.

240s are fun, and cheap cars capable of great things with little money. Good luck, I hope you rock it till the wheels fall off.....then put new ones on and rock it some more.
