Auto LS VSS work in 5spd GRS?

i sold someone a vss sensor that i know for a fact worked when it was taken out of the transmission. i stated it was from a 95 auto LS. someone came and got it and they are calling me back saying its not working. then they said they have a 5spd gsr, know the vss was from a 95 auto ls. just need to make sure if it wouldnt or would work
