Few questions to your Dirty Dub peeps.

Well my girlfriend just got a 01 Jetta GLS (1.8t) automatic. She wants to fix it up and already has 2 JL audio 10's and some polk/momo speakers..now she is turning to me to help her pick up performance stuff. I showed her the oettinger body kit and she likes it and i found an APR chip with vag-com software. My question is, is the APR the best or is it not worth it? I also showed her the Remus full catback exhaust and she liked it but i think she is going with borla. Does anyone know a site that has parts specifically for the jetta? I wanna try to find a FMIC for hers too.

^ if you don't know much about dubs i would talk to someone first... they are quite different than a japanese car... i would seriously talk to brian at EPG or do some research before buying or installing anything on your dub

I love my APR chip, I highly recommend them. I have all the parts you mentioned, and own two 1.8T jettas. PM me for other opinions on brands shops. I have had several good experiences, and a couple bad (which I wont talk about publicly)

I had an APR chip when I had a 02 GTi and it was soooo fast afterwards! Never have a problem with it. They are top notch.

Awesome. I think she is gonna get the chip. Im trying to convince her to turbo upgrade and all the fun stuff but i dunno know if she wants to or not. What are some basic mods that are good for 1.8t's? Im used to hondas so all i can think of is Downpipe, intake, chip and exhaust? Oh and one last question... to those with running without a cat (meaning DP straight to exhaust) how loud is it? Because she wants her exhaust to sound good and not be annoying loud.

do the chip...... get it flashed at Eurotech... there are multiple programs..... car may be quick enough for her then.....

next upgrades: Good intake, DV, Downpipe, exhaust, etc.... that will already make it sufficient for her....

Hey Paul, met you up at Target on saturday, and was talking about chips/flashing. Does EPG have a website, or is the phone number the only way to see what they offer?

they have a site.... but their old webmaster sucked.....so it is no updated.....

I am just trying to find out what specifically do you need, if anything to flash your ecu. What I mean by is that do you need to purchase a chip first and then get it flashed, or can you simply just get your stock ECU flashed and get about or possibly better results than a chip? Since EPG is close I wouldnt mind taking it their to do it, I imagine it doesnt take long. This is all i have for now, thanks.

mine is running no cat.3' downpipe mated to a 2.5catback techtnonics exhaust..its not quiet but not loud either..has a very nice tone..and no droning either...my downpipe and exhaust are for sale by the way.

whats your email? im asking 500 for the full turboback system..3'dp to a 2.5techtonics( borla muffler ) i might just part the set-up..a guy wants to buy just my dp(made me a very generous offer)but willing to sell the exhaust for probably 275$

so i guess being as this thread is basically dead anyhow i can ask a related question.. is there a particular order that the modifications need to happen to the cars? or can i do say a CAI then 3 inch turbo back then the ECU later? i need to goto a local shop and ask them i know but noone is ever open when I have time to go by.
