bad for your transmission
my friend does this alot, and i tell it that when you hear something GRINDING it is pretty fucking bad for your car.
so he'll be going downhill near our house, and when he needs to stop quick or something (to say hi to friends and stuff) he'll just step on the breaks, and before the car stops fully, he'll throw it into park.
all i hear is a bunch of gears grinding, but technically, what's going on, and in the long term will he generally ruin the car? (honda accord >auto<)
Not sure but from what i think there is a small pin that holds the car in park and if it snaps hes fucked. Anyways why would he be so stupid as to do that?

Yea, its called a Parking Prawl. It's an arm that goes into a gear & prevents it from moving. It can break if you slam it into Park while moving fast!

Its called a parking pawl and it locks the output shaft to the transmission case. Let him keep doing it and he'll be putting a transmission in soon.

10mph plus the weight of the car slammin in park i would give him another month of doing that continuously(sp).
