I've only spent a year beating on one and the only problems we started to have were the axles snapping (around the 20psi range and 4-5k launches) when launched hard constantly. I think at one point we had the flywheel bolts grind and rip off but that was about it. He got custom axles made and replaced the clutch and fly with some company and no problems since! From the first day of modding it, the car read 45k and I believe it was a 00 or 01 B5 body biturbo S4...
I'm trying to get one eventually
the V8's are muy quirky
Well i found one for 15k w/48k miles on it. its silver, apr tuned out the ass. Thinking about jumping on it.
if you are truely in the market and the car is not ragged then you would be an idiot not to get it.Originally Posted by Chuckster

Im pretty sure its been beat up on just b/c of the list of mods done. Its either a 2000 or 2001. But the car it extremly clean, inside and out.
typo on the mileage, 90k. I had it confused with another s4 that has 48k miles for 25
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe I read or heard somewhere about needing to replace the turbos at around that mileage...maybe the S4 guys can confirm that...
FUCK GRAN TURISMO EAST!! NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR THERE, ESPECIALLY NOT FOR AN ALIGNMENT!! TERRIBLE BUSINESS!!![]()
If it is "APR tuned out the ass" as he says then im guessings its SIII (RS4 K04s) which would most likley be newer then the mileage on the car. I say go for it. If i ever blow the 1.8T im dropping in a B5 S4 2.7TT in the PassatOriginally Posted by gtikid

not an cheap job either..the whole motor has to be dropped to replace themOriginally Posted by gtikid
this is not accurate.... www.gmpperformance.com would be a great resource. For the price I would bet it has the stock turbos.... IF replaced the dealer.... it is VERY expensive but for less than half get the Stage III with RS4 turbos, injectors etc.Originally Posted by DeutscheBAG!
I agree with this. But yes I have heard it is a VERY expensive job, from a VERY reliable sourceOriginally Posted by R_Rated

Great cars not so good reliability. To give you an idea of my frame of refrence on reliability this is what cars my family has... Audi A4(sisters), Audi A6(moms), Volkswagen Phaeton(dads), Volkswagen GTI(mine). I have learned high maintenance costs are the price of driving an amazing europeanm luxury car.
S4's are a bit worse than what we have dealt with as turbos are thrown into the equation. I read in a car buyers quide that it was considered the least reliable of performance sedans for the first body style. I also talked to a guy with an S4 about reliability he said well I just had to replace my turbos with less than 80K on them for a few grand. So...

Oh BTW my mom's was about $33K, we probably put 12K in maintenance is my guess, and got only $7K for it at trade in.

ive had my 00 S4 for about 5 months and havent even had a slight issue and i have looked at the silver S4 for 15k, i think its in woodstock... it is NICE!!!
I was talking to a S4 owner he had the 2.7TT and he said he had chipped his car and that he blew the transmission within 10000 miles, no longer has chip
have also seen a video of an s4 2.7TT doing donuts in the snow and they blew there transmission in the process
