    Default Rotary Builders

Does any body know some good reputable rotary rebuilders other than Mazcare or Mazmart in Ga.

MazCare doesn't rebuild usually. They put in remans.
    MazMart sells parts.

Juan Delgado (on the northside) is who you want. He works at Jim Ellis during the day, and has a little shop that he does rotary work at night.

David Girod (on the southside) is a very good builder also.

I can put you in touch with them if needed.

What are you wanting to do really? Me and 2 other guys are into rotaries and can do some stuff with them. Is it a N/A 13b, 13b-rew, or 13b-t?

It's a 13b-rew with a coolant jacket failure. I just want it rebuilt with a nice streetport nothing too crazy for now.

If you are going to go out of state, go to Gotham Racing and have Steve Kan build and tune it.

I'm going up there on Tues. to get the parts to do a 5spd conversion for an FD RX-7. I have heard nothing but good things about them.

    Rick Engman
I just met Rick Engman, and Jim Downing earlier this week, very nice guys, but they are really only into race-cars it seems.Plus, Jim has the whole Hans-device business that he started....he says that he only does SCCA club racing anymore..... I think his professional racing days are behind him now.

Slowly, I am working my way into more and more rotary stuff, in hopes to be one of the rotary guys to come to in the near future. I have yet to dive into the rotary engine rebuilds, but I do everything on the rotary cars otherwise. Soon I feel I will be doing some re-builds and rotary porting.

Kevin Landers by knoxville, TN... he's one of the cheapest and perhaps one of the most knowledgeable folks about second and third gen rexes. Hes my pick on a rebuilder.

Today I've just met one of the rotary god's. Rick Engman and Paul are one of the coolest groups of people l've ever met.
Paul had gave me a great estimate on mods and hp numbers I wanted to acheive with with my motor. He also had gave me long history tour about mazda's racing legacy. Man,today was a good day.

Rick is unbelievable. He blows away all other rotorheads.

Paul is one of the nicest rotorheads alive, and is extremely knowledgeable.
Anyday you are at MazMart is a good day - except for some of the prices. But they need to eat too...

Should have went to Mazmart way sooner
than I did. Just have a few more things I have to confirm about the car then I'll be
    ready to take the plung.

So I am guessing that you are going to go ahead and jump into the rebuild yourself?

How much would it cost to get an apex seal replaced?

You don't replace one apex seal. You buy the whole set and do it right when you rebuild.

Couple thousand $$$. You may just want to pay a little more and get a reman, engine, unless you are building for more power, and or wanting to port the motor.

Thats what I thought. That problem is way too common for the price. You find so many 7's that have shot apex seals that no one wants to fix. If i had the money I would make it a business to fix and re-sell...

If he gets the 3mm, he wil have to send his rotors out to be cut. Go with the 2mm if it is just a street car setup. Only if it is race, does he need to consider 3mm.

Hmm. Didn't know that. Thanks for correcting me. I don't want to send his car the wrong way.

Not a big fan of the 3mm seals. I'd stick with the 2mm.

Its no problem but the atkins video isn't that good. You would be better off buying the DIY-RE video set. http://www.drifting.com/article.php?threadid=18662&goto=newpost&show_Title ==
