i used to own an mitsu eclipse gs-t, but yesterday i bought on 05 gti 1.8t with 1,254(yup, twelve hundred, not twelve thousand) miles. i absolutely love it! 5speed of course. first mod i wanna do is lower the 12 foot tall mother fucker, after that im not sure. i am not at all disappointed with this car, even tho it's not the fastest i've owned(wrx, mitsu gs-t but the vdub is hella quicker than the eclipse), its still quick for stock. lemme know what ya think, and im lookin for a boost gauge, pod, and lowering springs

actually, i raced my friend who also has a 1.8t gti(he used to wax my turboback subie allll day), he was running 18lbs of boost, not sure what all his other mods are(exhaust cut off after resonator, filter, idk what else)...he only pulled by half a car length. he seems to think since my car is techmically used, it might be chipped. any possibilty of this? i dont mind if it is but...dayum i sure didnt expect that, especially after gettin walked on when i drove my rex. it was a pleasant suprise lol

I doubt is chip.. but shit who knows.. if it is already, save you some $$$. take it to Eurotech or Autofab and they can find out for you and if not, they will offer some chip ideas.. so many out there is crazy.

i know for a fact he isnt chipped, he stripped it to stock to sell it, then decided to keep it and go big turbo, but never put the chip back on. he's a decent driver, but so am i. but still he was runnin 18lbs, what do we run stock? like i said this car feels way faster than my subie, and he used to wax my rex every time...

he's got a greddy profec b spec 2. his was chipped, he put it on there, but got it reflashed(back to stock?) i think, then put the boost controller on. so, sound like mine is chipped? itd be ok with me lol. forgive my ignorance, like the subject of the thread, im new to the vdubs.

lol. i cant wait to start modding, i love this car. i loved my subie, but this car is right there with it or above. i know i need to read up on forums(vwvortex...)but what would be the best options for a turbo and shit? im wantin 250-300 whp. BUT. im wantin to keep around the same spool up time. my subie was fully spooled by 3200rpms and my gs-t was by 3grand. i love the gti's 2500 and youre ready to go. i wanna keep it REALLY close to that.

You could always piece the setup together. I think a T3super60 turbo should max you out at about 300whp w/ a nice spool up. I'm sure you know this, but w/ BT you'll always need a new exhaust mani, possibly custom inlet piping, software, injectors, maybe a wastegate, custom down pipe, etc...

ATP makes kits that utilize the stock turbo location. You can hook it to you stock mani and DP. You will need the atp inlet pipe, software and injectors too. Getting a higher flowing mani is always a plus. I know the GT2X turbos have a nice quick spool up and can get you close to 280-300 whp. Check out http://www.boostfactory.net for the kits. Check out the 1.8 Tech forums on the vortex. There's a ton of info on these kits.
