i am a complete dumb ass and should know this, but was there a 4cylinder dohc motor put in the e30s? or a better question might be was the i-6 a dohc?

    E30 M3 has a 4 cylinder. Pretty much a e36 motor missing two pistons.

The E36 6 cylinders are DOHC. The E30 6 cylinders are SOHC. The E30 S14 (M3) Is DOHC. I am not sure about the other 4 cylinders.. But would imagine that most are DOHC.

All the 4 cyl (E30 and E36 at least) are DOHC, <96 are M42 1.8L, 96> are M44 1.9L. Both are pretty nice, revy engines (my best friend has a 318ti).
