Default what can i do to be faster

94 honda civic w/gsr swap: headers, intake, exhaust (i have straight piped into a greddy ev2 muffler; which i think is faster w/no muffler?), clutch- 6puc, fpregulator, struts/springs, oh and the flywheel is shaved.

now i know every1 wants to say turbo, trust me thats what the goal is but for right now. what can i do?

I was trying to be nice suggesting the s/c. The kit sells for between $2,000.00 to $2,500.00 and if the owner can't do the work, he doesn't need to be trying to improve his car because it's an easy install. In reality, I would agree to sell the car and buy something else with more potential. I really never have understood a lot of Honda owners. I sincerely mean no offense but why mod a car that's going to be slow no matter what you do unless you spend a load of money and destroy it's reliability.

if you do it right you dont destroy the reliability any more than any other modded car. i still get 30mpg, i still have a/c, heat, nice interior, rides good for a lowered car, runs 12's and nothing major has happened to it yet. ive been driving it for a while now and have put nearly 10,000 miles....10,000 hard miles on it. its amazing what happens when you buy good quality parts and take your time and research to get shit done

I know this guy and he speaks the truth. He and some of his associates get the most out of Hondas. And on reasonable budgets too.

I agree with Japan4racing just save up for a turbo kit thats what im doing.

And If you do it right and dont take the cheap way out and know the limits on your setup then you will be able to maintain reliability.
And I wouldnt go with a S/C just because everyone that i have ever know with one was not as happy with it as a fast spooling turbo.

ya i have hear nother but good things about uberdata, but dont know anything about this. is this something where they just chip ur ecu, or is this like a modulator?
I believe its just a chip.
But im still a noob to Uberdata...

NAWSSSSSS FTW!!! nah but for real, an aftermarket intake manifold would help...like a skunk 2 or aebs. im not sure if aebs makes one for the gsr yet though. or u can do a lil weight reduction, advance timing, etc.

Naah, only makes power from 7 - 10k RPMS... I am sure he is not spinning a stock top end that high. I say go with cams/spray. You can dial in another 20 - 30whp (average) w/ the Hondata s200 or s300.

The best bet "for the money and reliability" is a Jackson Racing Supercharger. It bolts on and most car enthusists can do the install in a day. Maybe two days if it's your first time. Just my two cents.

I have a N/A SOHC that will wax yours!! LOL. You are looking at only 60 addit'l HP on a D series w/ a J/R SC. They are not $4k though, more around $2K (it's listed on their site). But I agree, still not worth it in the end (for the SOHC). It is def worth it on a DOHC (4cyl) though.

-it might be a d16 i just thought that because of the year, but it may be d16 and not d17, dont know why that would make a diference between the two, but i dont know shit about s/c just that i dont like them.

    - ya see i'm with you on this my buddys wife has turbo'd a b16a, w/other mod's and she can tune it up to right under 500hp (dont know if that is whp but still) and she drives around daily at 300+, if you do it right it's deff the way to go. all the people that talk down on hondas and say there is no potential------with all do respect are out of their fukn mind. i've seen it and will have it.so i agree that the turbo's b18 is the way to go

I wouldn't go that far. It depends on where you want to make the power. There are 12 sec SC'd B series' out there.

Hey, it's all good. The guy was talking about limited funds so I threw out a suggestion that IMO is reasonably priced. It also depends on where you want the power. A JR s/c gives you power all the way through the revs unlike a centrifugal s/c where you gain power as the rpms increase. If all you want is to go straight, then yeah, go turbo or centrifugal but JR works very well for course racing. We've installed JR and Vortec and they both work very well within their respective applications. Can you buy a Vortec system for the same price as JR?
