Hey man, I changed pads on my Z31 this Tuesday, and did it under 2 hours. And I went into it blind. I couldnt even find my Haynes book. Thats with a regular race jack, and hand tools also. The Cougar took me about 5 hours, but it seems the general trend is that the rears are harder to work with and beer breaks. Id be willing to lend a hand if you want, and Im free.
lol thanks man, ill keep that in mind. im just trying to figure this out because i really dont want to spend a shit load of money taking it to a place to get them fixed. i know its possible to do it cuz i have seen a buddy of mine do it on his old prelude.

For your front brakes. Meineke charges 169.99 lifetime warranty brake pads, price includes labor.Originally Posted by blacknightteg
If the rear is also Disc it should be the same if not less.
If they are drum it will be 129.99
My shop uses VGX, Which I am pretty satified with,

Trust me, its probably easier than you think. My nissan only required one bolt to be removed to slide the caliper off and replace the pads. You just need to rent a caliper tool kit from AutoZone to push the piston back in.
yeah, thats waht i remember my friend doing, ill probably just go over to his house to do it, seeing as how he fuckin used an impact wrench to to put my lug nuts on lol i dont want to have to try to gte those things of on my own.. i think their is like one bold behind hte rotor if im not mistaken and then i can just slide the caliper off and put the pads in and what not. if i remmeber correctly it was putting hte caliper back on while keeping the pads in that was the bitch

Well thats where the caliper tool kit comes in, you might even can use a c -clamp to push the piston back in. If the piston is released, putting the caliper back on is nearly impossible. The rear discs have a different style piston more than likely that has to be turned rather than pushed in, so youll need to rent that tool.
aye aye aye lol, na im pretty sure ill be able to do it...lol this is gunna be fun!

yeah what they said...front, all u need is c-clamp to push the piston back in, like 3 bucks from advance. for the rear, theres like a X shape cutout groove inside the piston. just rent that tool from advance and align the tool in the groove and turn that bitch in!!

OMG DAVISON, this shit is so damn easy, you won't even need a C clamp either, all you need is a basic socket set, flat head, and some time. Its like a 12mm I believe to take off the brake caliper, use a flat head and compress it back, put the new pads in and you're done. 30 MIN MAX!!!!
