    Default transmission housing removal

    not really general tech work,but i need to get mine apart.its 90 civic si trans 5 speed.i took all the bolts out and it comes apart a little but it will not completly seperate.did i miss something? im trying to swap bell housings or get the little guides that hold the axles in and keeps them from wobbling.

    take out the snap ring .

    snap ring pliers and if that doesnt work....bust out the screw drivers and shoot it across the room and hope to find it

    its such a tight fit in there i dont want to mess it up,this is my first manual trans tear down.but maybe a really small screw driver will work.thanks

    wait, bodydropped, i was just kidding, i mean unless u wanna go that route. its not the best idea but itll work lol i mean i dont know how much help ill be but i have rebuilt manual trannys in class before if u want me to come check it out ill be more than happy to take a look

    it should work,the snap ring is inside the trans and wont go flying out across the room.im more concerned with putting it back together,im guessing it will snap back together.only one way to find out.

    Snap ring is still engaged. pry it back an the case should slide right off

    as long as u dont start taking like too much stuff apart like all the gears and syncos and syncro sleeves and all it should just slide back in

    it goes back in the same way it came off. it takes a little skill, but it works.

    got it apart easily,cant get it back but oh well.all i need is the part where the aaxles slide in how can i remove those? im guessing i need to remove the big gear with it. any suggestions.
