SFS5 @ turner field is the next local event (March 4th), i'd highly suggest signing up. you really won't learn a thing screwing around on the streets/in parking lots, but come to an event and you have instant free instruction from a list of several formula D drivers (and posers like myself) . there is an event in nashville with SEDA on Feb 25th if you don't mind a bit of a drive. you will gain more in your first three passes of a good course than you will in many nights of trying to find empty lots and such and having all kinds of worries on your mind (like hitting stuff, cops, etc).

for some good used tires check with Gran Turismo off Shallowford Rd, they always have a good selection of used stuff in all sorts of sizes and they price them very well over having to buy new ones. what size spare wheels would you be using to drift on? i also know a few people that get extra used tires here and there.

www.driftfury.com too The first one is at Turner field on April 9th. It's only $70 to enter and if you pay the whole season up front it's only $60. The whole season is only 4 events right now.

definately hit up gran turismo east, they usually have plenty of 17's. ask for kieran and tell him you heard about him from the guys from driftMechaniks, he'll hook you up.

but like erin said, any of the legal events (DG trials, drift fury, or SEDA) are by far the best place to learn. check any of those out and you'll be sure to learn a good bit and have a lot of fun.
