A friend sent me a picture of his engine. I cropped this block code to try and make heads or tails of it...
what is the engine in? Is it an accord F23?
looks like its an accord f23a3
You know better; next time will be a ban.
Looks like it to me too. Do a rubbing of the plate, you can see faint lines better then.

its a H23a3 dude, looks like its the 2.3L DOHC Non-vtec because h23a2 is the euro R motor.
H23A2 is not the euro R engine.. It is the jap/european H23 exactly like our H23A1. The Euro R engine is just the H22A (some call it the H22A7). The H23A DOHC VTEC engine comes in the Accord SiR-T Wagon. No Euro R model has come with a H23A2.Originally Posted by krucial7integra

did you know there was a h22z7 too?Originally Posted by allmotoronly
it could in fact be either an H23A3 or a F23A3. the picture is just a little to damn blurry to tead.

I used ms paint to magnify it, looks like a H to me
smart thinking!

man thats hard to tell, from that pic it looks like F23, but in the first pic when I magnified it, looked like a h23, the valve cover doesn't help either because I can't see it.
F23a3, from the looks of the block code and exhaust manifold...
yeh pic of the valve cover would probably solve the mystery now that its narrowed down to 2 motors

its an h series. alternator is on the front side of h series.

accord engine f23
It's an h23a3, the old euro version of the h23a1 here in the states.
Notice how the block is notched to use a timing light on the flywheel. I'm 99% sure that no f23's have that, as there all obdII, and use a pointer thing and marks on the crank pulley instead.
Also, here's more pics:

I was going to to say its a h23 but I kept scrolling and say that you posted the car it was in already.
