Default Intercooler On A None Boosted Enginee????????

Ok so ive heard and even seen
an intercooler on a regular engine(with no boost or supercharge).. somehow connected to the radiator or engine for it to get more air .. as if it was "boosted"
Does it actually help the engine or is it just another type of "trend" too give it the "boosted" look???

P.s:NO i dont not have this on my car lol

Having an intercooler would do more harm to the engine's performance than good. It would not give the engine enough air due to the lack of pressure.

Hooking up a large intercooler to the radiator and making sure it's full of coolant will help interally-cool the motor and help it run stronger with more power. I have one on my Z.

    LOL@Charles

No its not needed on NA cars and actually would hinder performance. First of all an intercooler is just a heat exchanger much like a radiator. However its used to cool very hot air when it is compressed (compressed air rises in temperature very quickly). Compressed air=Turbo Charger or Supercharger. On an NA engine the air isnt compressed before it enters the combustion chamber.

Basically the air going through your engine via intake filter wont get any cooler with an interfooler or not significant enough to matter. With a turbo that air is MUCH HOTTER so the intercooler is needed

they used to have an air intake that looked like an intercooler, it brought the air in from the front of the car, i think they still sell them.

An interCooler restricts flow. However, on boosted cars, the restriction is much less than the compressed air from the turbo/supercharger AND the advantage of cooler air is worth the slight drop.
