ok my girl bought a ford taurus in south carolina. i went on a rainy sunday, mar 21st and looked at it but because we had 2 little girls with us i did not get to look that much. she drove it and like it. then we talk cash, first of all the craigslist add said clear and clean title and no issues, well the a/c needed charging and it needed new rotors. then he drops a bomb that a title loan place has the title and requests she puts down $1500 so he can get the title. i told her i did not like this at all and finally she said she would do a $300 deposit. now the folks tried to wright non refundable but i said no way. so the next day we get up there and she goes in. after paying nearly 2 grand i found out it was a salvage title and the title pawn owner would not let her see it until it was paid. so i called hapeville, local tag office, got nobody on the phone. so she paid for the car. on the way home she hears 5 beeps every 30 mins. turns out that happens when the airbag light is blown/removed. also the abs light does not come on nor does the
CEL. the airbags are there i looked myself but WTF!!!

so my main question is it legal for someone to take the airbag bulb out, CEL bulb, and ABS bulb out of a car, and honestly i think he may have switched the cluster out too. we have to have these lights working to get a title in georgia and get it inspected which him and the title loan person also lied about because i said no deal til i could talk to GA and they took advantage of my G/F.

What can i do about this besides fix it and spend more money, and if he screwed and took out bulbs can he get in trouble. we had an inspector look at it so he knows the bulbs are not there so we have people who would go to court, any ideas!!!

there is no CEL, air bag light or ABS light and he advertised it as clean and clear title. i'm trying to get CL to get me the post if i can't find it but the dude lied and after talkong yo a sherriff where he lives he gave me a number to a magistrate judge, and the guy at the title pawn place is on my side and apparently has been screwed by him too.

First mistake. And if I recall correctly, it is a felony to remove a check engine light and sell it like that on purpose.

that would be my girl needing a car for her kids literally that day and it was at a title pawn place so we could not even look or be shown the document before the balance was paid and i have already told the owner he is now involved in this mess and he will now fully work with me.

ok stuntman i pulled the cluster today and and recorded all of it on my camcorder and the CEL light was gone along with the bulb connector, the ABS light was gone, air bag light was gone, ilic light was gone and some other one, i'll post the whole list later today when i get the lights back in. if they all come on and the car has problems it's magistrate time for sure, then i supeona CL for the posting and bam lights out for him. there were a total of 5 lights and light connectors removed and i'm sure the CEL and AIR BAG light will come on and have codes. thanks everyone for input i need all i can get, my girl screwed up bad and i'm wanting to break this guys knee caps but then i would get into trouble so that won't happen. thank god i have video and CL keeps all postings and the title pawn guy is on my side. i already have the number to the magistrate judge so we can call and get the ball rolling. esp after this crap today i taped everything he di half assed.

air bag light flashes code 42, front bumper crash sensor. i have to wait a couple hundred miles to see if the CEL will come on since the battery was un hooked. so there is a problem with the airbag system and the bulb and connector were pulled.

air bag light was gone and had a code 42 when hooked up, front collision sensor, and i'm waiting for the CEL to come on since it takes a couple hundred miles for the light to come back on.

Wow, that sucks. I don't really think you can do too much. You can probably sue over the lights if the whole cluster wasn't changed. IDK. As for everything thing else, it is your job as a consumer (whether buying from owner or not) to check everything.

a carfax will be ready monday and also if you pull an aibag bulb because there is a problem with the front crash sensor then you air bag doesn't come out and if you hit something you hurt badly, and last i checked that is called deception. also with hr being a single mom with 2 kids then she could persuade if needed. i also found out he buys and sells cars so there is no telling how many people he has screded. i can get hin fined for sure and after talking to the greenvilse co office i do have a legal leg to stabd on, esp with the CL he had put up for it. i used to flip honda's and i'll be dmned if i ever screwed anybody over. if the car had things chanded i discloed it. if there was something wrong with it i would tell the buyer but i also drove mine for 2l miles after repairs to make sure everything was fine.
