    Default 98 Civic LX (alternator)

so my gf's car is fucking up. it wont start without a jump and we tested the battery and it fine.

so i am assuming its the alternator so i want to take it out and have it tested. does anyone know where i can see a diagram to see where it is located before i decide to do this so i know what i need to grab from my parents place which is where my tools are at.

Any parts store can test it in the car. Just charge the battery and drive it up there.

Also could just be the cable, corrosion or bad connection.

just start the car and pull the positive cable off if it dies then the ALT is fried if it dont it could be just the battery cells are bad.
Also if you have a volt or ohms meter you can test it compared to stock or required ratings yourself

I've driven from Atlanta to Augusta without an alternator belt on before. If you turn off all electronics you will make it 10-15miles to a parts store no problem. When you get there they will charge the battery for free and you can drive back home.

If you are farther than that from a parts store it would probably be a bad idea.

Disconnect your alternator and see how far you get before you call anything.

Check the fuses under the dash first! I had the same issue with my 99 si and it was due to a poped fuse!

umm, all d and b series honda motors that i can think use the timing belt to turn the water pump, and have a separate belt for the alternator. just fyi
