Default Readiness for emissions. Help plz!!

I have a 96 civic ex. all stock. Car fails emissions because of readiness. Took it to some mechanics and they either say its the oxygen sensor, or something is like resetting the Ecu. I just recently had an alarm put on, but not sure if that makes a difference. Need help asap, reps n thanks for advice

what happens is if you reset your ecu it won't be ready to test for emissions for 2 weeks so it has a chance to cycle through to check to see if there are any errors. I think it is two weeks. So because you just had an alarm installed they unplugged the battery for a while and it then reset the ecu.
    that's how I roll

if it has been more than 2 wks check your battery connections make sure they're tight, not corroded.

If the battery is disconnected, you have to drive ATLEAST 100 miles before all the sensors work properly. The mileage varies for different cars but you have to drive a certain distance. I have cars fail all the time because of MIL readiness.

They would of had to disconnect the battery to install an alarm, so just drive it around alot and you'll be set!

P.S. MIL Readiness has NOTHING to do with an oxygen sensor lol!

Oxygen sensor may be the only one showing up in "not ready mode" so it could be a bad sensor.

I am pretty sure that it will say "fail" rather than "not ready" though. It does on my machine, but I have a new machine so maybe it would say differently on an older machine.
Anyhow, do you have any idea how far you have driven since having it installed? A guestimation?

its been driven a good amount of miles, im sure its over 100, because my bro uses it for pizza delivery. However, i just changed out the oxyg sensor and i also found out the vtec solenoid was unplugged :\.. Do I need to reset the ecu since i changed out the oxyg sensor? or i should I just go get it tested? thanks again guys

Don't reset anything or you'll just fail again, you only get 1 free retest. Idk if a vtec solenoid effects the emission controls or not.
If you didn't undo the battery when you replaced the o2 sensor then go get it retested.
And did it have over 100mi when you had it tested the 1st time?

kk, yea I'm pretty sure that there was over 100 miles on it, not positive though. Should I drive it around a bit and then get it tested?
